Well hear it is my first RC truck build. I'm new to RC and this forum. So hello and glad to be here.

Finished the front axle. I did encounter one problem, after completion I noticed
one knuckle had a cam over effect. I made sure the bearings where seated.
and it was still there. I decided to use a little force and pushed the axle in.
I felt a small jolt and now it's good to go.

My motor is coming tomorrow. I ordered the Tekin ROC412 Rock Crawler Motor (3100kV) and as soon as I did I realized the 2300kv would be much better.
I couldn't make the change in time already shipped. So I did the wheels and
shocks but won't fill them until I mount them. I did use green slime to lube
Oring and shaft for building.

Welcome to RCC and congrats on the Phoenix!

The Phoenix is a great rig and it and all of the VS4-10 rigs are fun to build. Check out my build threads here on RCC of my Vanquish rigs if you have any questions.

Looking forward to seeing more!

I have TGH - Team Garage Hack H.O. 1.9 Beadlock wheels coming, and plan to use Hyrax Predator Rock Crawling Tires. The truck will be painted black.

Should look sharp with those wheels! I have a set of those wheels on my GSpeed V1-C1 build.

Just noticed you are listed as being from Akron. I'm just south of you on down I-71.8) Depending on where you are at, you may be close to JimsRC near Tuscarawas County. He has an excellent indoor and outdoor rock course setup and holds comps all year long.

FIFY

Actually I had to limit myself to just stock because I didn't want to sell my
house for parts. I also need building experience, first one. Example, I know
I can't adjust the slipper tension until the motor (just delivered) is installed
and the unit is stabilized. Using the included cross wrench, tighten the m4
nut then back it off 1/2 turn. Question: how tight is tighten. Do I really
need a torque wrench and torque to 60oz. And if I do where do I find such
an exotic creature.

I thought with it being all black a set of nice wheels would set it off. When I
saw those, I said yes! And thanks for the heads up on Jim's.

I tighten mine all the way down, but i have pretty good throttle control. As for tighten n back off a 1/2 turn, just snug it down n back it off. Doesnt take alot

Welcome to the hobby... I have been into in a few years now and the trucks keep on rolling. Youll likely get there eventually. I did recently put in a 3100kv on my VP Pro and is nice and fast with really good creep on mamba x ... given that you are using portals and the gear reduction is a bit more the 2300kv might be a bit slow for full throttle, although the low end creep will be smoother.
