Suggestions for new body

I admit, the main reason I purchased the CR-01 was because I am a big fan of Toyota and wanted a scale FJ. However, after botching the paint job and having to cut the quarter panels anyhow for clearance on the tires, I've decided to try and fit a crawler body on it. Anybody have any luck doing this?

I'm looking at the new Losi 2.2 body. Seems it mounts from the side rather than the top. Quite narrow front and rear. Wonder If I could make it work on the CR chassis.

Alot cheaper then the FJ replacement body and I would end up having to hack it up anyhow.

Most any body can be made to work on any chassis. Just make sure the wheelbase is close and go from there...

^^^ what he said.. heck, i was running a Jeep TJ Rubicon Body on 1.9 rock crushers.. worked like a charm! im now waiting on a new bright hardbodied JK.. that should be interesting!

I've been thinking about using one of these Jeep CJ bodies from RJ-Speed on my CR-01. I don't want to trash my Land Cruiser body! :)

The bottom one is norowed front and rear and has bigger wheel openings for maximum wheel clearence.

I really like the bottom one and 15" length is about perfect I think.

I really like this one but I believe I read it is 16" long. May be a bit too much length for the CR

Hiya, I had decided that the FJ bodyshell was too top heavy for some serious crawling especially after extending the wheelbase upto 12".

So I took my rolling chassis upto my Crawler freindly LHS and a bunch of us went thru the different crawler shells. The Proline Recon nearly won but that would be as heavy as the FJ! so thats another project :)

Anyway I decided on the Losi 2.2" Shell, it fits pretty well and you can get the shell quite low on the rails and it made alot of difference to the rigs capabilities.

I was thinking of the Losi 2.2 body. Did you use the top body mounts or did you mount side body mounts on your CR?

Do you have any pictures of it mounted? I would love to take a look at it.

Thanks

Used the top mounts, you just need some short posts :)

A couple of photo`s, showing the body with articulation and nothing interfering with tyres etc. The body was cut to Losi`s mould lines no other Lexan was removed.
