Hi everyone,

Received a box stock Sxc24 Jeep and need to replace the esc and receiver. I have a unused Tactic TTx300 that I plan to use for the receiver.

What are some suggestions for an esc replacement. Mostly going to be used for light crawling and trail runs. No competition stuff. Will probably upgrade motor down the road.

Budget options preferably but any suggestions welcome.

I feel as is the Furitek is overkill for my needs? How is the Hobbywing Quirun 1080 or 18a? Also are there any specific things I should be looking for or considering?

Best Regards.

Furitek Lizard or Iguana would be my recommendation, comp or not the extra control is worth the price. The Iguana comes configured for brushed motors so you don't have to buy the bluetooth board to set it up like the Lizard and Tegu. The 1080 is a pretty large ESC to try and stuff in an SCX24, they're meant for 1/10 scale trucks.

Is there an easy way to understand the differences between the Furitek models?

Lizard and Iguana are the same ESCs with different defaults in the configurations. The Lizard comes with an adapter for a brushless motor and defaults for a brushless motor. Iguana comes with an adapter for the brushed motor and defaults for a brushed motor.
Both handle 2s batteries.

Tegu Mainboard is a larger format, being the same size as the stock ESC/receiver. It comes with the brushless adapter. It has a better BEC so can rn either 2s or 3s batteries. It has some plugs for LEDs.

This is a Lizard installed in a customer's Deadbolt. Stock ESC. Emax servo with a longer servo lead let me move the receiver to the back.

This is a Tegu (uncased) in my wife's Jeep. FlySky GT5 micro receiver out front.

I’ll 3rd the Furitek Lizard recommendation. I just installed mine with bluetooth and set it to brushed mode while I’m waiting to receive the brushless mounts and gears. If I didn’t already have a BL motor in hand, I’d be real tempted to stick to the 050 brushed motor. As Trike Kid said above, the throttle control with the Furitek is unbelievable. Infinite feeling range, and no more “gas it out”, just nice steady throttle application and it’ll keep rolling. I’m already considering another one for the second truck! $50 for a pre-configured Iguana is a steal IMO!

I appreciate everyone's input. So technically an Iguana can be "turned into" a Lizard and vice versa?

Also I assume neither of those support LEDs. Is there a way to have those separately from the Furritek? I know the Tactic receiver has a 3rd channel.

Yes, same ESC with different names based on the default setup.

You should be fine to power the lights off of the receivers 3rd channel.

I expected to lose lights with the Lizard, but to my pleasant surprise, it’s still powering two sets of LEDs plugged into the stock accessory positions.

Regarding LED functionality, I have a Lizard and am going to be using a DasMikro Sanwa compatible receiver and thought that I would be able to plug LED's into the additional channels on the receiver and program my MT-S to turn them on and off using the auxiliary switches on the radio. Is this not a possibility?
