I have noticed that there is no list upgrades for Tamiya XV-01. I thought that we should gather a list on one place so you don`t need to look at all threads.
Thought of a recommended and one other List.

This list might be redundant when compared to tamiyausa's chart, but tamiya's site does not show what upgrades should be put on first though. Very useful for the newbies!

I would even go as far as put them in order of the most important things to get first in order if you only get one thing at a time.

1.) 54379 XV-01 Aluminum Suspension Mount (XJ) X2 (rear first)

2.) 54376 XV-01 Separate Suspension Mounts (1XJ)

3.) 54377 XV-01 Separate Suspension Mounts (1XM)

4.) 54448 XV-01 Reinforced Drive Belt (573mm)

5.) 54450 18T Aluminum Pulley (for TA06 and XV-01) x2 (front first)

6.) forward pulley tensioner mod (in my XV-01 thread)

7.) 54451 XV-01 Aluminum Steering Arms

8.) 54515 XV-01 Assembly Universal Shaft (Front/2pcs.)

9.) TRA1942 Traxxas Long and Short Rod and Ball Ends // If you have problems whit uniballs don`t stay together.

To this point this is just a durability/ reliability list, a performance list would start with front CVDs, followed by the long travel shock mod then sway bars.

All of these parts (and then some) and special mods are in my XV-01 thread. "thumbsup"
 
I would also suggest replacing the stock K/KK parts with the Carbon reinforced set #54446. i have broken the K2 part at the tie rod connection two times before upgrading. i haven't broken the carbon reinforced one yet. waiting for this part to be made out of aluminum ... please

I broke one of these Paul and have not had issues for months now. I am still running a stock plastic one.
 
Yeah don't do that unless you only plan on drifting. The XV01 shares several parts with other Tamiya vehicles (TA06 (I think) and FF03, etc.) But many of those parts are suited more for drift and road use. I think this same topic has been discussed in here before... Things get lost in here pretty easily.
 
I may be wrong, but overdriving the front diff, from what I know, would not help in drifiting. In my opinion, it may even help decrease excess steering from the front motor set up.
 
I don't know why you want overdrive the front diff.

I'm into drifting also and for counter-steer drifting, you overdrive the rear, so you get more wheel spin in the rear.

You overdrive the front on a rally car.

Like the center diff does automatically on a 1:1 EVO.

Now, the 1:1 STi does the opposite, in automatic mode, it sends more power to the rear.

I know this isn't apple to apples.

I was just putting it out there as a tuning option. You can also use a 15t pulley from a hpi on the front for the same overdrive effect. or do the opposite and turn it into a drifter.

My bad, I actually thought you were talking about over driving the rear. I still wouldn't do it. :ror: While it may make it pull a little harder with the front and corner a little better it is going to cause excess wear in the drivetrain. I would still be curious to try it, but already knowing all the parts I have worn through I know this would just cause things in the front end to wear out quicker. Plus plastic pulleys and me don't get along. :ror:

Or is there an answer to the question "why did they leave ist open?"... when I put my xv-01 pro together, I thought i lost the part, but there is none...

Which aluminium spur gear mount will fit the XV-01? Will the TB-03 one fit? (#54094). Or the FF-03 one? (#54234)Or both?

If you have a motor which has a partially open can, especially on the side of the pinion gear, like this one:

I would highly recommend installing a motor plate like this:

or your spur gear and pinion gear will be most likely broken in a short time.

Talking about gears, I changed to M0.4:

The linked examples have the same ratio as 68T/22T M0.6 as it comes out of the box. The smalles pinion gear that will fit should be 30T. The car runs more silent with M0.4.

Dunno if this was ever answered elsewhere, but the reason is: For a completely enclosed belt-drive to work properly, it has to have rubber seals that keep dust out even when the chassis flexes. Otherwise a few bits of grit will find their way in, and every time the car hits a bump, they'll get bounced up into the moving drive belt and sucked through the pulleys. Since the XV-01 doesn't have such a complex enclosure for the belt drive, the lower-front portion of the enclosure is left open so the belt (which is rotating "backwards" compared to the wheels) can sweep debris out of the enclosure.
