I am having an issue with the bright blue becoming teal when applied to a Mojave body. I'm not sure why this is. The little I got on my finger is exactly the shade on the cap but it's very teal on the body.

Any ideas? Photo below.

What's wrong with teal? ; )

I understand what you mean. I bet the primer or base color is altering the color. I had a Testors enamel do something similar. I like how it lays down and it dries nicely, but sometimes it reacts differently with other primers and colors.

That looks alot different than Testor's site, but I think it looks better on your truck.
Testors

I prefer Tamiya paints and how they apply.

Nothing wrong with teal. I was going for a brighter blue to match a photo I saw online. The paint under the blue is tamiya gunmetal. I have no stores nearby that carry tamiya paints and the tamiya blue I bought was completely wrong.

So after the Tamiya paint was cured I started with a very light coat of the testors enamel. Locally bought. So the blue is on a dark base coat. I thought if anything it would make the blue darker not turn it teal.

The pic is about an hour after application. I wonder if it'll darken up while curing.

Edit: Well I got home and answered my own question. So about 3.5 hors and It's now a nice shade of blue closely resembling what I was going for. Unfortunately I now must wait until sunday to add more coats or risk paint issues.

Here is what I was going for...

It's too late now, but I'd bet that if you had a base coat of white the dark blue top coat would have been closer to the color that you were after. It looks like a nice paint job, but I fully understand it not being the color that you were expecting.

Well I am about done. I see that this type of paint is a pain to apply correctly compared to the ease of Tamiya. I will deal with it since it's going to get scratched up when trailing/crawling but would never use it on anything that I want to stay looking nice. It's just been a huge headache for the most part. In spring if I really want to deal with it I may sand it down and go Tamiya, but Testors Enamel is out of the question with any future projects.
