Sweet!!!! Just got permission from the "boss". Looks like my partner in crime also received a kitchen pass. Oops, gotta get back to Booger and get him ready............

Anything to do on a Friday night in/on/around/near Grapevine Lake?!?!?!?!

Re: Texas Jam 10/2/04

All right! Sounds good! Can't wait to see what Booger can do! :D :D :D

As for stuff to do, hmmmm well, GV lake actually has camping there and it's free! It's close to a big mall and there are all sorts of nice restaurants. I'm not too sure b/c I live on the fort worth side. Texrok may know more about the happenin spots since he lives in Grapevine. :D

Re: Texas Jam 10/2/04

Watering hole? Is that like when animals gather at a pond or lake or something to drink water? :?

Re: Texas Jam 10/2/04

ahhhh, gotcha! I'm sure there are tons of those! What kind are you looking for? Sports Bar? Pool hall? ......Titty Bar??? j/k!

I'll more than likely try to join ya!

Re: Texas Jam 10/2/04

Sup guys :D! here's the rules for the upcoming comp on Oct 2nd. These were taken from Kaetwo/Pinchflat....the Utah guys. They have hosted several successful comps and seem to have had good feedback from this set of rules. These are the most reasonable rules I have seen yet. Look these over and try to familiarize yourselves with them. I'll have several copies on the day of comp just in case.

Rules are subject to change accordingly with the course we lay out.

Any questions/comments also are welcome!

UTRCRC Rules for the Crawling Competition: (updated 7/06/2004)

1 penalty point for reverse. At anytime the vehicle moves in a reverse direction more than the vehicles wheelbase.

1 penalty point for rollover. A complete rollover requiring reposition. Reposition to be done where the truck lays within 1/2 your vehicles length when it comes to a full stop.

1 penalty point for reposition. At anytime you may choose to have your vehicle repositioned 1/2 of your vehicles length. By-pass gate penalty points will be given for a reposition through a gate.

1 penalty point for gate marker offense. A penalty will be assessed when gate marker is moved to where the marker comes in contact with, or is moved beyond the marker boundary line. Upon each occurrence, the competition will be stopped and the marker will be replaced. If the marker cannot be replaced due to the vehicle placement the vehicle will be repositioned enough to replace the gate marker at no penalty.

5 penalty points for gate by-pass. You may choose to by-pass any gate at any time during your run. However, you must attempt a gate and receive at least 1 penalty point before you choose this option. 2 gate by-pass penalties maximum per section. If after you have used two gate by-pass penalties and cannot or choose not to continue any further you must withdraw from the section and receive a DNF.

1 or more penalty points for time violation. 3 minute time limit for each gate. At 3 minutes you will be assessed 1 penalty point and you will receive 1 additional point for each minute beyond 3 minutes.

DNF (Did Not Finish). At anytime during a section you may elect to withdraw from that section. At that time you will receive a score equal to the highest individual score received by all the drivers on that section plus 1 additional penalty point.

Vehicle Breakage. If your vehicle becomes damaged, tire bead failure, vehicle failure, etc. during your attempt. You have a one-minute time limit to repair any occurrence. This must take place where the vehicle lays. If you cannot remedy the problem within the time limit you will be assessed a DNF score for that section.

The starting order will be a random draw for the first section. All subsequent sections the first to start will be the one with the lowest score in the previous section and the second to start will be the next lowest and so on.

Lowest total score wins.

There are no limits on vehicle design or motive of power. No limits on wheelbase, vehicle track width or height. No limits on tire type or size at this stage. Note that course will be designed with a 1/10, 1/8 scale RC truck in mind.

Re: Texas Jam 10/2/04

I'm in.

HOSS is chompin' at the bit to.
Hummm, waterin' holes, there is Wilhoite's which is a "Cheer's" kinda biker bar with good buffet. There is always Hooter's. There is just about any kind of restaurant in town that you can imagine. I have not seen any titty bars here in GV. But there are a bunch in Dallas and Ft. Worth. I'm not sure what my schedule is yet, but I will probably be working Fri. night. Don't know yet.

Willey, if you got any other questions, shoot them my way and I'll try to help.

Re: Texas Jam 10/2/04

OK, here it is, buddy got his kitchen passed revoked, so I will be heading up by myself. Gonna leave Fri night, probably late evening. Grab a bite and hotel, then maybe a few cold ones, then get up pretty early for some crawlin..........

Re: Texas Jam 10/2/04

Still trying to figure out which chassis I will be running on the 2nd. Guess it will be a surprise!

Speaking of surprises, I have one to add to our little comp. I will be "donating" a custom crawler chassis with links for clod axle rig, to the first place winner. This is the third chassis I have made of this design, and I want to see how its gonna do against some other rigs, so I might be bringin that one to run. Would rather bring the tuber, but well see. Hopefully, this will get us Texans something to get our butts out there for.

Re: Texas Jam 10/2/04

Hey Willey,
Send me a PM with your email addy and a phone #. I'll see what I can find in the way of available motels. And we can also hook up Sat. morning and you can follow me out to the crawling grounds. I figure you'll have a hard enough time just getting to Grapevine. If I'm not working on Fri night maybe we can find some cold beer. I let you know if I'm working or not. It's kinda complicated at this point. Glad to hear you're gonna make it.

Unfortunitly I dont think I make this event due to lack off a wheelable rig. I've been trying my luck at building a tube frame, and lets say its pretty said looking. Anyway, I still havent bought any clod axles, or electronics. So hopefully the next go around I will be able to meet you guys. And if you guys have any extra stuff you need to sell let me know. I'm looking for some narrowed Kongs, narrowed rims, clod axles....Later

Kid, I like the sound of that.....Lone star crawlers! I don't wanna change my avatar but I'll try to stick it in my signature :D Should be a good banner in the future too. It'd be nice to have some cool stickers of that.

OffCamber: Sorry to hear that. Would have liked for you to make it too! As it stands now we should be having a pretty good turn out this time around. 7ppl at least.

As for the parts, you may wanna contact Toyofast for the wheels/tires. He has a lot of connections. And check ebay and the for sale sections on here and clodtalk for axles. I've had a few good deals go through like that! :D

Yhea kid, you can use, so can all the other Texans!! I was bored the other day and was just playin around with the avatar. Looks pretty cool. Anyways, I ight try to print out a few stickers on the printer and bring em with me. We ll see how they look though. All I have is some cheap sticker paper. Anyone else able to print em??

COMON Cman!! I got rid of my kidwithacrayon one!! I loved that one too! It would be pretty cool to have all the texans with that avater.
