Joe i am truley sorry you will not be attending this will be the first time ever that i will get to see the supers run. and as i have posted before i wanted to see the best the sport has to offer in all classes

I wish I could be there but I am sure there will still be some good super drivers there two watch.

True, but IMO it discredits the sport somewhat to not have the national champ there defending his title.

I don't mind the changes, but they should have been announced at least 3 months ago.

Funny, I was reading some discussion on the 1/8 Nitro "Worlds" and the fact that it was being held in Indonesia. Security, safety ,as well as the travel expense are keeping many of the top drivers in the world from participating.

One member summed it up perfectly, and it applies equally to our situation.

The world's don't mean anything if all the best drivers don't go.

Nuff said IMO.

You are about a dumb a$$ yes it is one big comp but it is the fact that it is the comp that so many people worked for all year to get a spot to. Why the hell would I want to stay involved in something that the rules do not get released untill half the season is over and they think it is fine to expect people to be ok with having to make a 2000 mile trip on a few weeks notice.
I feel I have nothing else to prove in this sport I have won a national title.several big events and always come in the top 5 or 6 at every big 2.2 comp I have attended.
This is a shame. Everyone Knows what you and Melanie put into this Hobby(now business).

As for as the changes, to me it's sorta like NASCAR. The more sponsorship they find, the more rules they enforce, the more they try to make it "mainstream" has all ended up with less participation and attendance.

I keep reading that it's just going to be moved to different spots each year... But I have to find that to be true...

Will the Worlds Champ. Stay in Cali or be Moved to different locations each year?

I agree whole heartedly...I was very much lookin forward to competing with the best of the best SUPER class drivers for the 2009 title. Now it seems that even if I do come out on top it will somehow seem "tainted". I'm still going, and I'm sure I'll still have a blast, but it would be much better if ALL of the nations best Super drivers could attend.

Joe is a great champ, and a nice guy. He's always offering advice to help other guys out. He is also hands down mind boggling to watch drive a super class rig.

If he doesnt make it to worlds it'll be a big let down. Hope to see ya there Joe.

So join date determines worthiness to post? What if he's lurked for a year?
He bought a star so he can't get bitched at for that; if you just let him share his "know it all newb opinions," you'll let him look like the goof while you show to have better attitudes - something that "team drivers" and lots of old schoolers here should probably demonstrate, afterall, we're trying to positively grow the sport, right?
Is it annoying? Yes. But we shouldn't forget that Established Members, Moderators, Administrators, and Team Drivers are, or should be, ambassadors of the sport and this Web Site.
Others, especially the news guys, are watching and learning. :|

Well, seeing as his super is in the for sale section, I'd say he might not be there.

yes i hope he makes it also i can't wait to see you guys run the supers i wish they were more popular out here i have yet to see one run!

Maybe you should go suck what most people stick in what you are talking about washing."thumbsup" All of the travel, getting up at 2-3 in the morning to be at comps 3-4 hours away to chase points series, going to the big events 900-2100 miles away and spending 1000-3000 bucks doing so 3-5 times a year and then you find out that what you worked for all year just got yanked out from under your feet. There eventually comes a point when you have to say it is not worth it and move on or just start running local comps and have fun.

So all I can say to you is screw off.

dang dude....i hate to hear you and the family arent going to be able to make it.:|

for what its worth...if this is a money issue, id be willing to make a small donation to help y'all get out there"thumbsup"

Sorry to hear you are leaving Joe, it's always a pleasure to watch your driving. I'm really bummed that I won't be competing against you and Jeff at this event. Hope to see ya down the road at a more local event.

Guys I do not see my self ever just dropping crawling.I guess what I should have said is I am going to slow down stop chasing point series, and big events. I only know of 2 big events I may try to make and that is ECC and crawlapalooza to hang out with some great folks and drink beer.Hell I may try my hand at building some scalers.I do however see me quiting Super and maybe 1.9 . There is not enough interest in one and I do not have enough interest for the other.
Once things settle down and maybe there is a actual schedule for nats/worlds I will make a run at 2.2 maybe. But not Super I just do not see keeping that thing around that long.

Wow... This turned into a train wreck. Even though there are a ton of posts now on some irrelevant mis-interpretation of why someone should or shouldn't slow down on crawling, I've still yet to have read a post from the head people in charge to either defend themselves or reassure us that there is someone actually trying to do something about this insanity..... Just sayin'.....

and yah... I like playing with fire...
