So I got a losi mrc pro for cheap for a parts car but all it needs is a remote, transmitter and esc to be complete so I shopping for remotes. I really don't know what to look for, but I do know I want to eventually get into comps. My buddy has a spektrum dx3 s I think it could be the R but not sure. He would give me a deal on it but not sure if that's the way to go. Any advice would be great thanks. Oh and if it matters I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with the tekin b1r esc. Thanks again.

If you can get a 4pk for $200 then why wouldn't ya. Get the best controller you can for your budget. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

Ok so I defiantly want a 4 channel right? But I don't exactly understand why or why one is overkill or better than another for crawling etc. remember I'm new at this thanks for all the input so far

Futaba 4PL is the controller you need. It's the perfect (as perfect as you can get) Crawler controller. Take the time to learn the features, read and interpret the menu, and a 4PL will be the last controller you ever buy.

The real deal maker though it to use futaba 2106gf recievers for it.

They are compatible, and tiny. Best of all, super cheap at $30 a pop.

actually for pistol radios the 4pks is the cream of tye crop i wouldnt waste my time with a 4pk as well the 4 pl works fine for comp rigs however no display on your mixing or wheras your dig is positioned i bought to 4 pl thinking they would be great i am not impressed the 4pl is a cluster f!#@ waiting to happen if your going to run pistol and can afford it go with the 4pks as it displays your mixin and dig position however if your mind is not closed to pistol grip do some research on the futaba t6ex twin stick people will argue for sure not everyonebis a twin stick guy but there are plenty of advantages of.running the twin stick just do a search on the futaba 6ex and.do some reading i sold all my pistols when i got my first 6ex my gf drove my car for 5 min with my 6ex and told me she would not drive her car.until i got her one so i sold her 4pl and found a 6 ex she loves it as well i picked her 6ex up for 60 bucks dont know if u fan find one that cheap but hey i did anyway keep your mind open find what suits u the best:thumbup:

Sorry to be pissy.....but:

1-Puncutation is free on this site (as it is on most others)
2-Stop & think before posting
3-Radio selection is subjective, what works, "Great for me" may "Suck" for someone else.

Just saying.8)

PS, I gave up correcting the quoted post, I don't have that much free time......

1 i am not the only person on this forum to nor use punctuation oh not even the only one on this post who doesnt use it
2 the 4pl is alot more confusing to use than per say the 4pks i know several guys have used the 4 pl and dont like it because of the lack of being able to visually see your mix or your dig position thats all i was stating i also said in my post to keep his mind open to other things other than pistol radios he can use whatevwr radio he wants im sorry that your mind is limited to the 4pl just because i dont like the 4 pl others may its a great controller it is just lacking the options some other remotes have like the 4pks as well there are added benifits in using a twin stick i was mearly stating that it works great for me and that it was another option other than keeping his mind closed to pistol style radios i am not trying to ram anything down anyones throat mearly suggesting there are other options sorry my opinion on the 4pl is different from yours hmmmm isnt that what this thread is about giving the guy some options other than saying this is the only remote that works ha ha well they all work just depends on what works for u

This shit is incredibly hard to read but it looks like you are saying that you cant view your mix rate by viewing the screen. That is NOT true. The "dual esc" screen shows you your mix rate and shows if you are in a front dig, 4wd, or a rear dig.

So what sucks about a 4pl? :lmao:

I'm pretty sure my 4Pl does all of these things.. and so much more. Read the manual and take the time to actually learn how to use all of the functions before commenting.

well neither of.my 4pls showed mix or dig in normal operating screen maybe in the dual esc screen but thats not the screen showed when runnin unless u open that menu and why do all that crap just to run and as far as the 4pl being the perfect crawler remote opinions vary and that is perfectly fine im still going to state why ram a single remote down the guys throat there are many great options for.remotes we have only talked about futaba remotes spectrum and other brands are out there the 4pl isnt the only radio out there and as my original post stated and i am repeating a 3rd time its whatever works best for the user the twin stick does offer simpler easier control and alot less buttons to deal with mix is as easy as using your right stick forward or reverse dig is on a toggle switch u never have to look at your remote andbu always know where your mix or dig are super simple no fumbling with buttons if thats not for u great but why flame a guy for.not using punctuation or trying to share other information with other users if he wants a 4pl great but i assume he posted this thread trying to get information on radios not a radio the 4pl works great never said it didnt but it is very confusing eapecially for new users why do u think they have posted so.many instructional vids on it !

Wrencingrock.....I am not disagreeing with you.

I am a Futaba fan, I run a 3PM-x, my son runs a 4PL. Both are great radios though the 3PM-x is a bit limited for a winch or dual ESC's.
I also run a hacked GT3B, great radio for the price.8)

I'm not a "stick radio guy" for ground vehicles, but I use them for flying things.

I comp with "stick guys", they do well, each to their own.

As I stated, "each to their own", what works for me may suck for you.

I have to say though, whatever your point, your posts suck to read and do little to help your case.
No, this is not "English class", but it helps to make it easier to follow a thought when it's easier to read.

OP, hope the info from multiple posts here help you out."thumbsup""thumbsup"
Pardon the minor thread de-rail.8)

Fwiw it takes less than 5 seconds to get to the dual esc screen and it stays there until you turn the radio off.
Fwiw #2 I find the 4pl menus easier to understand than my dx3 or my dx6i.
Fwiw #3 I'm not trying to force any certain radio down anyone's throat. I simply don't like seeing misinformation that will leave someone with the wrong impression about a good radio.

i dont want to knock anyones radio that was not my intention just wanted to share information if i got pissy sorry i just dont think my ability to punctuate has anything to do with me trying to share info i choose not to punctuate because i dont know how to properly punctuate so i dont punctuate if that is a problem umm sorry i have learned a ton from this forum and try to share as others do juat trying to throw out some other options that i wish i would have know that were there when i was lookong for my crawler remote

Futaba 4pl is the best thing you can do. Amazing scailer remote, Moa, shafty, boats, and go fasts. It's the most versitial radio out. Can do it all, digs mixing, rear steer. Stop bashing it
