When I was retiring from the military I was looking for jobs in my home state, California. I decided to look elsewhere when they passed a law that stated that in public schools, if on a particular day, little Timmy felt like he was actually little Sally, that he/she could utilize the female restrooms/shower rooms. Now, if I had a daughter in that particular school, and she came home and told me that little Timmy came in to shower in the girl's locker room because he felt like little Sally, I and Timmy's father would have had a very unpleasant chat...

Putting it in context like that really hits home the fact of how far downhill we as a country have fallen. What a shame... CA or not, this should never have to be a concern of a parent or especially of a child simply conducting him or herself as a normal child. Timmy's mom and dad are absolutely the problem. How any sane parent can support this is a true abomination and I'm sure that if I was a parent dealing with this issue, I'd be much more incensed over this. Take care, man.

This should be classified as child abuse. This whole gender is a construct thing is patently wrong and ignores biology. If an adult decides they want to play as a different gender, or call themselves trans, Im all for that right. Gender dysphoria is a known mental illness and should be treated as such. They are causing irreparable damage to these children by giving them hormone therapy which results in infertility in very high number of cases.

There's a small number of people out there who see their selves as being more feminine or more male than their sex implies. Sometimes terrible douche bag parents take offense to that and try to force those kids into whatever mold they think fits their kid which invariably ****s the kid up and either gives them horrible identity issues or anxiety for the rest of their life. The solution is to just let kids be themselves, whether that means Amanda want's to be a diesel mechanic or Toni want's to wear dresses and be a fashion designer. It's no different than me growing up as a nerd, when my Dad was the cool guy in high school, he didn't always like my hobbies or interests growing up but he showed support and that gave me confidence to be my own person. Who the **** am I, or you, or anyone else to project what I we think you should be on someone? Why does it matter if someone else decides they see themselves differently?

As a reaction, the hippy dippy bullshit machine with a dose of far right exaggeration takes the novel concept of letting people figure their own shit out and mutilates it into whatever this trash is, while simultaneously politicizing it in order to induce another news story people can bitch about on the internet rather than focusing on getting our shit bag of a government to focus on real issues like the 40 thousand kids our country has in an underfunded, completely shit foster 'care' system, or the staggering amount of people who are ODing on opioids every day.

It's more than a political issues. It's people wanting to protect children from their psycho parents. There are boys and girls. Gender is a real thing. You don't get to choose your gender. Saying it doesn't affect you isn't true. These freaks are fighting to get rights for a third and who knows how many other genders!

If you have a dick you shouldn't be allowed to choose to go into a woman's bathroom and vice versa.

I'm not suggesting in the least that this isn't damaging. It absolutely is. But to entertain the idea that this is a legitimately valid issue to be up in arms about, well jmo... it's not. We... as individuals, don't retain the means to fight this anyway... so yes, I choose to ignore it. Certainly at the Federal level... many idiotic laws, restrictions, entitlements, etc have occurred for as many years as I've been alive. But at least in the infancy of idea's like the one presented here... it's not something that I will even begin to recognize. It's typical liberal/ millennial BS that just doesn't warrant my time. You better believe I've got my head buried in the sand these days. This world is getting harder and harder to digest lol.

Still not sure how this particular issue might directly effect me since I'm never going to have kids. I'm not completely callous nor ignorant of the fact that this could effect people like my niece who will undoubtedly be raising kids soon ( although she is another liberal-minded millennial so for all I know she might actually support this... dunno), but how would one even go about fighting this degree of stupid? I have petitioned and fought against some agenda's over the years like gun-control, as well as several local/ state issues, but because I don't follow the latest pissing and moaning of our poor victimized citizens, I didn't even have a clue about this until it was posted here. Okay... so I'll bite... How are people standing up against this?

They will grow up to be adults that you interact with. I'm sure they will eventually try to change the laws. Heck, I'm sure some of them will try to claim disability for their gender identity issues. There is a saying, "It takes a village to raise a child..."

I wholeheartedly disagree with this statement, when the village raises a child you end up with the village idiot. It takes one, preferably two, dedicated parents to raise a child. With that, I do believe in the sovereign right of parents to raise their child the best way they seem fit. Allowing your child to find their own sexuality is kind of a funny thing. If you don't treat little Timmy like a boy, and he gravitates towards girl-type things because of the environment he is in, did he really pick that, or was it environmental influences? And, is not giving Timmy at least a nudge towards the social norms for his sex not in some way, child abuse?

For me, you raise girls as girls, and boys as boys, the nature will determine where they land in time. Tom-girls are a great example of this.

This issue doesn't bother me. Partly because I won't ever have biological kids of my own, but mostly because I suspect things like this are brought up in the news just to keep both sides fighting each other. It fits inside an existing narrative (political correctness), so its like dumping more fuel on a burning fire. On cue, everyone runs to their battle stations to parrot the same old arguments at each other. You see this happen every time there is a mass shooting. It's a dysfunctional cycle that keeps everyone occupied and accomplishes nothing.

I'm not perfect, but I try not to get sucked in by it. I don't watch cable news. Ever. I try to see people for who they are outside of their political views. We all have more in common than they would like us to believe. Take this issue for example: I assume people might want to call their kids "theybies" because they love their kids and think it's best for them, for whatever strange reason. Who else loves their kids? Pretty much everyone. Who else makes well-meaing mistakes while raising their kids? Pretty much everyone.

You might actually be surprised - we have many more regulations that affect day-to-day life than say Kentucky (where I'm originally from). Texas rules though, great culture and quality of life.
