hi all,
i am wondering if items like this-"Axial Racing Threaded Aluminum Pipe 6x101mm - 30° Angle" are threaded all the way from end to end:roll:? i am asking because i want to know what guys do/use to make "custom" length links:oops:? my idea is that i could buy these & then cut to length & install like factory normal. basically cut them & then just install w/o any other modifications.8)

thanks!!

sooo basically i am trying to build a blazer bodied dingo from the ground up:oops: & i am wanting to know what i can use to make all the links i need to match the 11.2" wheelbase? what ideas on material & such;-)

thanks!

Look around a little there are plenty of threads on custom links. All thread sleeved with brake line or stainless tubing works well. You can also buy aluminum tubing then cut to desired length and tap. Again search around you will find plenty of ideas.

1/4" ID aluminum tube, 8/32" all thread, 4mm tap. All parts can be gotten from your local hardware store. Measure your needed link length, eye to eye, mock up your length and cut your tube accordingly. Cut a 1 1/2"-2" piece of all thread, run the tap thru the tube and rod end, then assemble. I like 4mm revo rod ends, beefy and available from all LHS.

Get you some 4mm all thread cover it with brake rubbing and jato/revo rod ends and cut what ever length you want

i finally saw the thread that pointed me to that little information tidbit! makes me want to try it myself.. even though i am a newbie!:lmao:

Stock SCX10 has a 11.4" (i think) wheelbase. They use 91mm lowers front & rear so work it from there.

this is very very helpfull information;-)!! thanks!!"thumbsup"

The axial links are only threaded maybe 15mm into each end as stated above, but they are hollow tubing, not solid rod. They are already the right inside diameter for 3mm threading. If you have some of the axial links and you need them shorter, pick yourself up a 3mm metric tap and handle. Cut the link to the right length you need, carefully tap the end you cut(using a light oil on the tap and gently working it). Custom-length links! much better end result than threaded rod covered with brake tubing! Lighter and stronger, too!

digger,
that was a thought of mine as well.... just not sure if it is something that i want to tackle yet....:ror:

thanks!!
