I was watching the Weather Channel this morning and saw all the devastation caused by the tornado in the midwest and I really feel for those people. As I was driving to work I was thinking how that here in NJ we don't have to worry about tornados, well they just issued a warning for Hunterdon County, that means me!It is dark and scary looking outside right now, holy crap Mother nature is pissed!

Living on the west coast I just cannot imagine what you guys must go thru out there...

It's something that just doesn't happen around here.In my 42 years I can only remember two or three severe storms that may have had small tornados touch down. They caused damage to roofs and trees but nothing even remotely close to what the midwest is seeing. My guess would be that the Appalachian mountain range is enough to keep big storms from really getting rolling.I may be wrong but it seems tornados are most severe in wide open flat plains like the midwest where there are no mountains to interrupt the storm systems.

crash you dingbat!!! we had a tornado just a couple of years ago in Vancouver Wa... and there has been sighting of funnel cloud all over the west side of this state... granted no where near as bad as in the midwest...

We've been getting about one a week around here. You get used to it.

Same here.

We're already under a state of emergency here in the southern part of the state because of all the storms and flooding. Had a couple F1's and a F2 tornado go thru a couple weeks ago and got a little bit of the bad one that clipped us Monday. Calling for severe storms thru the rest of the week. I'm over it already, Im running out of tree's, I've lost 3 so far this year.

Pic I took earlier today.

Two words. Storm shelter.

Me and wife bought one 2 years ago. Best $1,800 ever spent (if you live in a bad weather state, which we do). It was $2,800 but the state of Arkansas refunds $1000 of the cast.

....
