so my ax-10 rtr, that i got yestday, is out of commision already.
it has a busted sevro gear. its the gear that sticks out of front of the servo itself and connects to the servo saver. its split in half and unfixable.
came in a lil to hot and caught a red brick dead on with the servo saver.
didnt save s^&* is more like it

so now what to do?
im considering just replacing the servo with a spare servo i have from another car thats not in use at the moment due to the fact i've been eagerly awaiting the crawler, but would like to know if i can pick up the servo gear at a hobby store or is that to specific of a part to have onself at a store
plus i really dont feel like disturbing the nicely bundled and tucked away wire on the new rig

so pls any advice to this new crawler eunthusiast would be welcomed

It broke the servo saver like it supposed to, not the actual servo.
Glue the plastic "C" back together with some CA tire glue or standard crazy glue and your good to go. "thumbsup"

Or buy this - http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-AXIAL-SCORP...ryZ44028QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

not real sure.....never had my ax10 fast enough to bust the servo horn.....what type of servo are you using? are you using the horn that came with your kit?

He has the RTR, it has a servo saver on it just like the WK one. Its a big plastic "C" pinched between two "horns".

thnkx guys for replyin so quick

correct it does have the servo save on it
but you know toothed gear that sticks out of a servo
thats the part thats halved
its a hard metalish gear thats ruined
one halve remained in the servo
and the other stayed on the screw in the servo save part

servo saver is F I N E fine
the gear protruding out of servo = f'd up

is it possible to replace that gear easliy by going to hobbystore
or should i just replace the servo all together

sorry if i wasnt clear in orig post
kinda pissed off and erked

OH - the output shaft... might be able to pick one up at a LHS... tear the servo appart and take the part down there to match it up. If not, buy a cheap-o standard servo to replace it.

well looks like no wheeling on sunday then
i have other servos that i could swap in but its not like their spares

have to remind myself this is crawling and not the monster mash rc expo
it was def my fault so im not gonna be a pain and have seller replace it

o well
otherwise im blown away at the capablity of the rig

and u da man for helpin me out
keep on crawling bud

I would spend the money to get something like the hitec 645 mg. A little more money but should last longer than most cheap servos.

Just an FYI - servo savers aren't designed to necessarily protect the servo from direct collisions. They are to prevent the gears from stripping if the wheels get cranked to the side, or are bound up and you try to steer.

Does anyone know what brand the stock Axial steering servo is?

I'm in the same boat as SSerp3ntor. I T-boned a 4x4 post and snapped the output shaft on the stock Axial metal gear servo. Wasn't going all that fast, just bad luck at the angle of impact I think.

It's pretty unlikely that Axial would design a servo from scratch. Instead, it is probably some other brand, labeled as an Axial. Just need to find out WHO, then I could buy a gear set and rebuild it.

IMO, the servo placement was poor, which is why it was so easy to break.

Appreciate any input here. If I figure out what brand when I dissect it, I'll post. I'm gonna replace it with a better servo anyway, but no reason not to repair the stock one.

Thanks,

its a sucky boat to be in baja, aint it
sorry for ur misfortune

i remedied the problem by hi-jacking another servo from another one
of my unused RC's

but plan on taking the broken servo to a hobby shop and seing if they
have a gear set that would match up so as to not let a perfectly
good servo go to waste.

happy to say the replaced servo works fine
and i set the truck up to have rear stear so that the servo is
no longer in the front to be abused by accidental driving.

if i find a match on the servo gear set when i go the store this weekend
i will post it up on here.

If I had to guess I'd bet that Futaba parts of some kind will fit that... just a guess. ;-)

And there are even cheaper alternative's on this site for a servo. Check the vendor's section.

Run2Jeep'n carries Towerpro servos that work GREAT for these and are only $17!!!!
