TowerPro MG995

Hey Guys,
I was reading the Traxxas forums tonight and read a thread about a TowerPro MG995. These serovs can be found on ebay for under $20!!
I just purchased 2 for $34.50 shipped from Hong Kong. I'll be sure to let everyone know how they preform.

Here's the stats:
At 4.8 volts its speed is .17 sec
At 6.0 voltes its speed is .13 sec

This servo offers more then 200oz of torque at 6 volts and is also ALL metal geared with bearings!!

If the servo is what it says it is, this is one greay deal!!

you get what you pay for. its a cheap-*** hong kong servo. it might put out 200oz of torque but for how long? yes the gears are metal but but i bet the little motor in the servo is garbage. good luck

I used one in my Clod with no servo saver all summer with no problems, so I bought a few more. I fried two Hitec HS-645MG's in my Clod before trying the TowerPro MG995.

How can the motor be garbage if it has that much torque... It must be decent. Maybe not reliable but who knows.

Wow you almost seem mad that I bought this servo. For the price I paid if these last more then 3 months I'll be happy.

I simply got them to see how decent they last. I'm not expecting it to be like a $120 airtronics or Hi-tec servo.

Many people can't afford those so I got this to tell others how well they work.

We'll see

Yeah i would be definiately interested too. for that price its probably not top of the line, but with so much torque you might get a long life out of them.

soounds like an affordabe alternative to the higher priced servos used. i might have to test some as well.

hey, crawlsalot- have you tried one yet? just because its an off brand, you shouldn't put down a product. get one and try it. if it breaks on your first run then you have the right to knock it. i have tried many off brands of various things not well known here in the states and some have been as good or better in quality than the more well known and some were a dismal disappointment. keep your coments to your self unless you have first hand experience with the product! by the way, it's only 17 bucks!

by the way, tower sells the weak traxxas 2055 for more than 20 bucks.;-)

it says DIGI on it and has 15kg stall torque, but nothing says its a digital one. now is it digital?

They look suspiciously like a hitec case, I know a few guys are runnig them here with mixed results but at that price who really gives a sh!t if it only lasts 3 months? It's almost cheaper than buying new kimboro's every 2 weeks :flipoff:

I ordered a pair last night. I have a few servos laying around so I can do a comparison. I don't have any real test equipment so it will be all seat of the pants so to speak. I have a Hitec 5925mg, Hitec 645mg,and a GWS mg. When I receive them I will get to work and do a review.

For that price it's worth it just to see how they work and what their lifespan is.:? If they're junk, not a big loss IMO!:) Keep us informed!

exactly what i figured, the tlt isnt gonna be comp till the summer, so i'm doing cheaper **** in it funded by old jeep parts  so if this lasts till summer i'm happy its half the cost of the 645 i was gonna buy

I was just on e-bay looking at them. I think they are going to be in next months budget. If they work well, then score! If they don't meet expectation then no great loss!:flipoff:

i wonder if these will be like the bluebirds, sold for cheap at first then raised there price after they started to sell?
