Picked this up today and boy, even powered by the factory 6-cell pack, it's a ton of fun. Fast and well... FUN!!

Plans.....
-3s lipo
-Remove shock limiters to allow better landing abilities after going airborne.
-Drive it like I stole it!!!

I'll admit that Traxxas did a great job on this ride. Several members of our club setup a rally course in a business park that we frequent, huge loading ramps that make great jumps. So this thing will become a weekend rally rig...going up against Tamiya M03/M05 rigs and other rally like cars.

I've been enjoying the heck out of mine as well. Looks like our LHS might even run a class.

I found just adding ride height (1 full turn on all shocks) did wonders for the landing. Next will be changing the shock oil to thicker. Not sure why you'd remove the limiters, you'll get too much roll in the corners with them removed.

Another tip...fix the wheel wells. They point back in like a touring car...cut them more flat and then round them. Really helped on the rougher landings and pavement areas.

With the limiters out I figured I've "lift" the car a bit higher... just for fun.

I broke a knuckle/hub yesterday but the crash was pretty bad. Still a lot of fun.

I highly recommend the RPM ones...the screw in cap really tightened up the car...now the loose hollow balls of plastic need to go to steel/aluminum.

Post your results on removing the limiters...be nice to get input on that.

I'm not sure what plastic balls you're referring too. The pillow balls are steel, not plastic....I had them off the car last night.

They use plastic balls in the pushrods and toe links. Not too noticable stock because the stock pillow ball caps are so loose.

Installing the RPM Carriers and pillow ball stops tightened that up...now the plastic balls in the links/rods you can feel them being the next source of slop.

That car does look awesome and fun! I will be receiving my Tamiya Subaru WRC 2008 this afternoon.
I will get that build thread up here too.

Here's more images from the beating. It's been repaired and ready for more action....

They started up a carpet class for these... If anyone knows any setups I would appreciate it! Can only use box stock parts, so we can change gearing, shock oils, diff oils. Stuck w/ the only two tires available from traxxas so I use Paragon for traction. When you have a bunch of these all in the same class its hard to tell who's who from who. So I changed mine up a bit and can not wait for clear bodies to come out. They are debating about doing these at the 1/10 offroad track - if so I will remove limiters for sure...

Hey Toyo

Do you think that there is a slim chance the orcrc will have some rally racing with points and multiple races. Damn that would be fun. ?

I know orcrc did have some interest 3 or more years ago. Did not last. i think I would really enjoy racing. My balance sucks for crawling so this may be a way to have some competition in my life. :)

Evan,

Doubt we'll do anything as far as having a "class" for these.... just fun bashing sessions. This rig did climb the PDX auto show display just like the Honchos though! Only smelled burning rubber from the tires as it fought to climb the hill.

These things look like sooooo much fun. How are they offroad though?? Or are they just a pavement basher?

Off road they are as capable as their twins(1/16 Slash & 1/16 Revo)... they just sit a bit lower.

I stole the tires off my kids 1/16 Slash. These work much better in the wet than those slicks.

Time for aluminum upgrades. This plastic stuff isn't going to last much longer. Needs a-arms, hubs, links, rockers, etc....

Way more fun to drive with the 1/16 Slash tires/wheels though. Much more dirt, gravel and wet pavement friendly.
