Has anyone tried to put a rechargeable battery pack in the tq3? i was just wondering what size pack to use because it uses 8 AA's so that would be 12 volts so would i be able to use a smaller voltage pack?

im currently using them now but i was just wondering if i could put a rechargeable pack in there instead

ive searched a few times and im still in the processing of searching..nothing yet..

I am using a 1450mah 3S LiPo (paid like $8), it fits in perfect with enough room for wires.
Perfect voltage match too since radio requires 8*AA batteries.

I just soldered two wires and done. Well... I also do have those Low Voltage LiPo Alarm on there too.

Sure using AA is simpler, but for the price of 1000~2000mah LiPo's... I thought it was a better deal than using AA batteries.

well i havent made the complete jump to lipo yet i was just thinking tryin to use what i had layin around..but thanks for the info "thumbsup"

How long does it last? I have been thinking about the exact same lipo, just don't know if it will last long enough.

Well...

I modded mine after reading about it from the following link...
http://monster.traxxas.com/showthread.php?t=465950&page=2

I don't know if AM system use more or less battery than 2.4GHz system but...

from the link I provided, user who did the mod seems to be getting many many many hours out of it.

Oh yeah... many as in around 20 hours of one charge. That should literally last you a full day, right? :)

But like I have said... person from the link used a Traxxas 2.4GHz system... where as mine is AM system.

or you could use 3* 14500 Li-Ion batteries which will fit where AA is used. You can still add on those 3S Low Voltage alarms on it too. Very simple.
or a LiFePO4 batteries in same physical size? if there are any.

Seriously, I don't know what type/brand of AA you use but I think you can get a LiPo+ required wire(s)+ low voltage alarm for less $ than a 16*AA Duracel.
