Trail Finder 2 with Wraith Axles?

Hey guys I can't find any builds or information about swapping the wraith axles into the Trail Finder 2.

What are the best "one ton" axles to swap into a tf2?

I don't think I want plastic axles.

I was thinking about the VP Currie RockJock 70 Axles, but they are expensive and drivers drop.

What options are out there?

I am wanted to make my yota into a one ton!!

I wanna have my trail finder 2 with one tons not a scx10. Ha

But has anyone tried a one ton axle swap on the tf2?

have you looked at the aluminum t-rex 60s from rc4wd? i believe they are modeled after a dana 60. the new plastic ones are pretty decent too, and cheaper. Either way you will definitely want to get the XVDs for them.

Though they aren't 1 ton axles I'm running k-44s under two of my tf2s. 44s are really a 1/2 ton or light 3/4 ton axle irl, but the k-44s are very nicely machined.

Yeah I've looked at those and they aren't much wider overall compared to the stock cast yota axles. But I like the price of those plastic t-rex 60s!

I've been told to go with plastic axles instead of the metal ones. Any opinions on that? I guess bigger axles will be heavier.

Yes but you can fit ar 60's on an scx10.

Plastic slides over rocks easier.

Why would you want those axles on a tf2. It's a kit that was made to be very scale and axles like that would ruin the scale look of the tf2.

Yeah I've seen a few scx10s with 60s, and I like the way it looks. Plastic makes more sense for sliding over rocks easier. But what about strength?

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the tf2. I bought it because it's the most realistic looking 1/10 rc truck on the market. The transfer case and two speed transmission setup is the most similar setup to a real 4x4. These are probably similar reasons why most people buy the tf2. But I am not going for a stock off-road vehicle look like most people. I am going to make a 1/10th scale of a stock truck turned into a fully capable rock crawler. Linked all around, 1 ton axles, fully tubed. Only if someone would make a hard body of a ford ranger I'd be set! ha.

So I'm getting the idea no one wants to/ or has put full widths under the tf2? Why not? Where I live the most common real truck with full widths is a 1st 2nd gen yota. Seems reasonable to make a 1/10 scale of one.

Never heard of any durability issues with axial axles under normal use. I think they make beef tubes for them also.

I don't think people have done it with a tf2 because you can get the same look with an scx chassis and wraith axles for probably half the cost of a tf2 kit. And it has been done like that. And I still think with the size of the yota/mojave body axles as big as the ones on the wraith or similar size would look way out of scale unless the "scale" donor axles were off a semi or a very large piece of farm equipment.

But just because I don't like it and no one has done it shouldn't stop you from doing it. You'll have to be the pioneer and figure the stuff out on your own or pay/wait for someone else to do it.

Yeah I've also head you can make them pretty solid. I like how realistic the new vp axles look.

There are pros and cons to the scx10 and tf2. I've already bought the tf2 and it seems to make sense to me to swap in one tons. If it's been done on the scx10 and looks good, it's likely it'll look good on the tf2.

I'll have to save up and get everything together and try it out on the tf2.

I appreciate all the input from everyone! "thumbsup"

I really don't think they will work well on the TF2. The tf2 doesn't have the set-up or performance of the scx10.

You would have to make either a custom leaf spring setup, or a custom 4 link setup. Should be interesting, i think you are the first i have seen that wants to try it.

Good luck and take pics...lol

well, stock width wraith axles are not gonna look scale to the yota body......the width difference is just too much

just my $0.02

Imagine: a Suzuki Samuari on Rockwell axles.... Basically that's how the TF2 would look like with AR60s underneath it.

The TF2 just isn't built for that kind of axle. Especially with a 2.2 tire and the stock guts.

I'm not trying to compare to the Scx10 we all know it can out perform the tf2. But if you're going to zone in on the yota body with ar60sa under it. What's the difference between the scx10 with the yota body and ar60s, verse the tf2 with the yota body and ar60s. The scx10 looks good, but the tf2 with the same body and axles won't?
A real truck doesn't have the suspension setup as the scx10. So putting full widths under the tf2 would be more scale, than the scx10 with full widths.
