what are you guys useing for trailer axles? i have an idea for a trailer not for the normal uses(ie, other trucks, gear, ect). ill fill you guys in when i get it going, just need axle ideas

i have seen the clod knucle idea, and the break line/all thread. looking for more realistic, axle shafts and bearings, ect. gonna have springs and shocks, so some way of mounting those would be nice too

For my military/camp trailer build, I am going to use all thread, acetal tube, 2 cone washers, and 2 bearings.

I have some bearings that fit inside the 12mm hex in the wheels PERFECT...almost a snug fit...just a smidgen of play. I'll use the acetal tube as the axle tube, which will have 4mm all thread down the center all the way through. Once the all thread is inserted and sticking out both ends a small amount, I'll slide a cone washer onto the all thread at each end...cone out. This cone will mate up and auto center the bearings that are inside the wheel hexs. Then just put the wheel nut on the outside and it spins for days cause it's runnin' bearings baby "thumbsup"

U-bolts and spring perches will easily mount around the acetal tube. Plus the nice thing about it is, you can tighten everything down nice and snug...and there won't be any binding due to the use of the bearings.

I have already mocked it up, and it works great.

I did a quick and dirty trailer build with Thunder Tiger ZT-2 suspension parts. Losi Mini-t parts would work almost similar.

I cared less about absolute scale looks and more on good movement in the terrain. After the picture was taken I have cleaned up the "mess" a little:
