my friend just gave me an ipod loaded with songs. there is alot i dont want and i want to add my own, but when i go to itunes i either erase it all of can not put my music on because it is full. anyone know of a free program so i can take songs off my ipod to my computer and then delete, and then add them back to itunes so i can put the ones i want back on?

i have pc, but i did find a free one this morning. thanks for the replies. its called idump and it works really well and best of all it free!

For Windows, go to Control Panel, then click on Folder Options. Under the View Tab, scroll down the advanced settings and check the box that says show hidden files and apply settings. Now go into My Computer and click on the ghost Ipod symbol. Find the itunes file, and right click and copy to a folder on your computer. The only bad part about doing this is you have to click on each individual song to get it into itunes, but its free

Ditch iTunes. Using that, you can't sync the Ipod to 2 differnet libraries at once (iLose more like it).

Use Winamp http://winamp.com/.

It's a free program (but of course it has a pro version that you can buy if you want). It works great, and by default installs (at least the new version) has the Ipod plugin enabled. All you need to do is connect the ipod, open Winamp, and you're all set. You can then copy all the music from the ipod to the computer, and vice versa. Also, you can delete songs/playlists/etc directly off the ipod (no need to copy around and such).
