What's the cap mod? Sounds promising...otherwise I was going to look for longer rod ends.

schroll to the bottom of the page, you'll see pics of what I did to mine.
remove the caps from the shock
remove the seal/diaphram from the cap.
drill a 2.75mm hole in the center of the cap.
(the drill just has to slightly smaller than a M3 screw)
thread the screw through the cap and into traxxas M3 rod ends.
re-insert the seal in the cap.
re-install the cap on the shock, done.
