so I have the older triton electrifly charger
looks just like this one but its the older one. http://www.electrifly.com/chargers/gpmm3153.html

my question is I want to make the jump to lipo
but dont really know what i need to get to charge these lipos http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8932
I guess i need a balancer of some sort ?
and i also need a power supply for the charger..

Would it be better (cheaper) just buying a newer charger such as http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/?a...=CBP6i50-ACDC&sid=594282&bc_menuid=6C4BF1A79F

I have 4 of them ranging between ones I bought new down to $25-30 used ones. With the addition of an Astroflight Blinky (or similar) balancer they work great for me. The only thing they don't do is a part charge for storage. The only other limitation is the charging current, only 2.5A, not a problem though with crawler size packs.

The fact that you can use them for Nicad, NiMH, and lead-acid batteries as well is a bonus.

Never had one die either......

Yeah, you're probably right.

If you already had a power supply, just buying a balancer would be your cheapest way in.

I'm sure there are some real cheap standalone balancers out there.

Hobby Partz has that identical charger, I've used that same charger and have no complaints.

The Triton is a damn good charger, would make a great one to keep.

That Triton 2 will blow the other charger out of the water.

Will you be charging any big packs meaning over 3000mah?

This one looks fine for very basic stuff. I have the hyperion that they reference and its fine but I now find myself wanting/needing to upgrade to something that will charge bigger batteries (5000mah & 4 cells)
