Since I sold the TXT I was in dire need of another rig so I bypassed finishing the low profile tuber and decided on a more scale look. Just the usual 3/16 brake line topped of with a proline chevy body.
looks cool so far. i'd like to see it with links and axles. also where can you buy the brake line? i have been thinking of building a tuber also but don't know where to get the brake line.
That cage isnt welded its brazed using brazing rods and a mapp torch the brake line you can pick up at auto zone or any auto parts place for like 5 or 6 bucks for 5 feet.
Thanks Maxx. I braze all my frames with harris silver solder. $15 per ounce but it works like a charm ;-) Everything is on hold progress wise for now guys. Had outpatient surgery yesterday and have to take a week off to recover a bit.
Thanks guys. I really enjoy building them. Starting back on everything monday.
had a fatty tumor and a couple moles removed on my face and I look like I went a few rounds with mike tyson and feel like it too. One eye is black and theres a ton of swelling. Wife said she was gonna tell her co workers that she did it
Probably close to an ounce of solder and I havent had any problems with joints cracking or breaking. My son is 17 months old and he grabbed one of my tlt tube frames one day and was bouncing across the concrete floor and then standing on it. and it survived. Hes the offical stress tester now . I have started buying the ss 5 oz at a time instead of 1 oz. Cost of 5 oz is only $55.
Finally made a little progress on the tuber and got to try out a few tools I have been waiting on mainly a bead blaster and powder coating system. I finished all the link tabs and shock tabs today then did the touch up on the frame then powder coated it. Heres a few pics of the progress.
