What's it like in that area? The wife is thinking about a possible transfer to UCLA to finish up her education, currently on year #6 and finishing up her Masters degree. Nothing is set in stone but before she gets to far into the thought process about it, I'd like to get feedback from those that live in that area.

What's the housing like? Average home prices, say for a 2000 sq.ft. home?

Economy in that area? Is it too much Hollywood?

Crawling places? Here I have about 20 spots within 20 minutes from our house.

Any other feedback about this area?

Well. All of Los Angeles is basically spotty. You have great areas, and you have the not so great. I do believe the area around UCLA is nice, but can be spotty, and If I were you, find housing as close to the campus as possible, or with in a reasonable side street driving distance, as you have 2 of the more crowded freeways in the area.

Real Estate: West Wood Real estate: http://realestate.yahoo.com/California/Westwood

Economy: I feel the Economy is good, A bit slower/down than usual, but the whole country is in the same rut.

Crawling Spots: Well, there are a ton of scale spots that we run around the Los Angeles Area. However, most of the Comps are run out in the the desert. Maybe an hour or two away. Closest Comp spot would of been San Pedro, if they ran there. I'd talk to pantablo on here about the crawling spots for a for sure answer. He goes out just about every week to different locations.

I graduated High School there in 1984. I then moved to PNW.

With that said " I hate the F**kin place"

If the move is temperary good luck.

If you do I will miss your coments on ORCRC. You are such an ASS. :)

Problem is that we'd need something that we can afford, can be as large as where we are at now, can house the two of us, our son(3yr old), dog, 3 cats, 3 cars, and all our crap. We'll never live in an appartment again, period. I hate people that close.

I could care less about the "comp" areas. I dig the scale stuff more.

Thanks for input guys.

You should be able to find something to suit you with the housing market as bad as it is now.

Pretty much one in the same around here. Some guys do scale runs at a place called Vasquez rocks that is closer to LA than the high desert. Watch the SoCalrcrc boards. We do scale runs pretty often. The last one we did we had several guys from the LA are come out. Had about 40 rigs there.

traffic. nothing is 20 minutes away in los angeles!

That sucks. We live about 20 miles East of downtown Portland and that equals a 20-25 minute drive during the middle of the day on a weekday.

I'm not sure how I'd handle the landscape. I like the woods, real forests and all.... I'm not sure about the urban forest. My wife is not a traffic type person. She can hardly stand waiting in the drive thru at a fast food joint.

Perhaps she'll change her ideas on what to do once she finishes her Masters Degree in 6 months.
