-THANX!

i have a clodmod cx chassis and i have yet to break a thing . its comp based i have 5 3/4 inches of clearance and even though not needed can get a full 90 deg of articulation. do i need to say more send me a message and ill send you a pic of my rig. and to top it all off courtney at clodmodracing.com will help you with all your questions and get it to you fast . :x

the stick is the ultimate comp crawler but the clodmodracing.com CX chassis is a very very close second!

This is the lamest excuse i have ever heard. Nothing against you but i hear it way too much! Get off your lazy butt and head to your local hardware store. Get your self a hack saw, drill, and a file if you want it to look pretty on the edges. Then go to ebay and get some of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31489&item=7516526813&rd=1 See that wasn't so hard. You may even already have a drill and hack saw. The aluminum is pretty easy to cut and can be bent easily too and that 6x48" sheet should last you a pretty long time. Just draw out a few designs on cardboard, cut out your favorite and trace it with a sharpie on to the aluminum and then just cut, drill holes and there you go!

I built a stick wannabe with a dremel and a band saw, it could be done with a hack saw and a drill. Mine isn't pretty, but it works. You can do anything when you put your mind to it.

thanx. again, i'm new to the rc crawlers and i wasnt sure wat it would take to build one. i guess it would be kinda fun. i'm already sceaming up ideas right now

Building os half the fun, I spend more time dong that than actually wheeling. None of my rigs are comp quality or works of art but I have fun taking ideas and turning them into reality.
With a drill, nuts and bolts, and some cheap angle aluminum you can construct a simple lightweight rig if you put your mind to it. Have fun first then win competitions

Good advice here.. I made my first chassis with a drill press and dremel.

Hell, I think all my chassis have been made with a drill press and dremel

ok, i've think im going to build my own and maybe when i have more money, i will buy a prebuilt. so i have a couple of questions:
1.Cantilever + links or straight shocks for suspension?
2.Is lighter better or heavier?
3.How do i setup brakes?
-THANX FOR ALL THE HELP!

brakes are part of your ESC. Follow the instructions with the ESC.

Having said that, sometimes a little extra weight in the right place can help. Down low, if any.

you want to get the weight as low as possible and the center of the weight should be towards the front...not all on the front...not all in the center...but right in between that. The weight is some what of a personal preference. There are those ideal weights though. Heavy will take away from torque, run time, and climability but will add to the traction. Light will let the motors give out their full potential and allow your truck to make it up steep sections easier but can decrease from traction and may be less durable depending on how the truck has lost its weight (for example a light but skimpy chassis will break easier than a thick but heavy one).

Don't worry about it too much though. Just make it strong and sturdy but keep the weight low. If you aim for that philosophy you should come out at a good weight. And if it loses traction then you just need to choose good soft and high traction tires and soft springs.

One of the best things you can do when you first get into this crawler thing is to build your own.

If you don't have the desire, skills or tools to do this, choose one of the fine chassis offered by the chassis builders who actually crawl and support this site.

Of course there is our chassis the vPrime (the next generation of the v2):

There is the Xtreem:

There is the CX:

The Gecko Pro:

toyofast, do you still sell the mach1? Do you still have a site?

There are a few more out there but these chassis have been proven as great crawler chassis. You just need to choose now. If you have any questions about, or want more pics of our vPrime Chassis feel free to PM me or email me anytime.

yeah those are all great but nothing beats a custom built chassis! But if you do buy one i would say the stick is your best bet although it is pretty easy to build a stick your self. I don't want to waste your time reading how to do it if you don't want to so ask if thats what you want to do and i would be glad to help you out! Heck you could even give me some money and I will build you a chassis myself!

hehe.....

MTPA parts are no longer being imported by RCRockGear. Yes, still have the site, there have been some complicated issues with that and thats the reason for the slow rebuild of it. At this time RCRockGear does not have anything to offer the Clod based rig. Hopefully soon though, we are still slowing working on it but Kevins "Stick" has thrown us off a bit. ;-)
