I picked up a set of Eritex wide offset wheels for my MRC. I was trying to figure out how to add some weight to them, when I came across lead tape. It is avaliable in 3/4" wide and is about as thick as electrical tape. It weights close to 1/2 oz. per 36". If I was to use this would the added dia. to the wheel cause any problems? I tried a 36" piece on one wheel and it only added about 1/16" to the wheel.

i did the same with the Tape. Had used chunks, which made thing uneven, the tape made a nice clean, even, install"thumbsup"

honestly it seems like a waste. 36 inches of tape just to get a half an ounce? You can slap on two of the stick on weights and get a half ounce.
If you look at it this way you will want prabably 4 or 5 ounces of weight on the wheel that 1/16" will add up if you want 4 ounces of weight that is a half inch thick of tape (288 inches of tape to wrap around the wheel).....or you can simply take your time when putting on the stick on weights and get them relatively even and you are good to go. not to meantion if you want to take weight from the tire you are gonna have to calculate how much tape to remove peel it and measure it and cut it
its a novel idea but the gain of "even" weight distrubution seems not worth the trouble

I would have to agree. It's not like your driving 70mph on the interstate.

I bought some coper grounding wire from the depot and ran it around the rim 3 times and it added about 2 ounces. It is really stiff stuff so once you have it wound it won't move! Cheap and easy to find!
