I just got some Imex Dually tractor tread wheels/tires for cheap, I have been wanting a tall mud truck tire for a while but thought the only way to accomplish getting the height and width I wanted was to cut some clods in half and I don't really like the look of narrowed tires unless they are very well done. I don't trust myself to do a flawless job yet, so luckily I found these! 6" tall and super narrow, these will definitely give some clearance. Fairly deep tread too. I wouldn't have bought these new but I got them for so cheap that I couldn't pass it up. I may make rims for another set with the extra four I have, and those may go up for sale at some point if anyone is interested...

So far I have cut the rims to fit just one tire, I used the middle of the rim so that no gluing was necessary. The tire fits very well, and I think it will look great once finished off.

Next step: Remove all chrome, cut and sand rims to a finish, dye, paint. What do you mudders out there think?

The rim measures 2-7/8". I think I will dye them black with RIT, then spray them with flat black primer. Either that or good old fashioned tractor red.

Thank you for the measurement"thumbsup" I think the black will look really good.

You're welcome. I have the outside rim cutoffs that I might try and glue up to make another whole set of rims to make a total of 8 tires. Otherwise I will have to buy some clod rims and narrow them.

It seems as if black always looks good, with everything.. Although a rusty farm red sounds quite appealing to me, with an old truck body maybe?

Ok got the rims all trimmed up and painted, here's a couple pics of them. I dyed the rims black, and then painted them flat black and put a couple coats of clear satin coat on em. Cut up some foam from a leftover memory foam mattress, they look pretty good. The black is pretty nice but I think they may turn olive drab at some point.

I have 4 extra tires, PM me if interested. You'll need to narrow some clod wheels for them. I'd love to watch a mud life truck build as well! I just got my body cab in the mail today, soon to work on my flat bed mud truck.
