What kind of plastic do you use for vacuum forming? I plan on building my own machine but I dont know what kinda of plastic to use or where to get it.Is it just lexan sheets?.Also any other tips would be nice!

When I work with vac-formed stuff it is usually styrene that is used. You can use a lot of different materials. Polycarbonates and other plastics but styrene is the most cost effective.

ok where can I buy it.I want to get a sheet of it first so I know how big to make the machine.

Rc bodies are made from polycarbonite. (lexan) easier to work with.

To be honest I would recommend you trying to contact a vac-forming shop and talk to them. They'll be able to help you a lot better than I can.

There are a lot of plastic shops that will sell the material. You can probably get it in 4' x 8' sheets. Usually (for what I work with) they start with about an .060 thick sheet.

They have everything you could possibly imagine. Just search for the plastic you're looking for. they have lots to choose from.
