I am putting my axles together with all new parts..As i install the bearing caps the gear mesh becomes so tight i cant move the gears...It will turn if i crack the bolts loose on the caps...Any thought on what i am doing wrong or suggestions would be great...."thumbsup"

thanks,Pat

Gears won't turn or the bearing won't spin???
Do you have the bearing seated properly...are the gears meshing properly?
Sorry for stupid questions, but it's probably something real simple....when in doubt, tear it all back down and re-build it....

I have pulled it apart many times...I thought it might have been the HR gears i put in but it does the same with axial gears...Bearings spinfree there just doesnt seam to be any space between the gears...its almost like the locker fits down in to far...

update:
So i Took it apart again and took out the pinion the put the locker back in...Same thing happens...As you tighten the bearing caps the bearing drag real hard...I am assumeing it has to either be bad bearings or bad caps...The caps are from HR and the bearings are Full Force...I guess i will try ne bearings first.......

ok....took a stock locker and bearing out of another axles...put them in the vp axle...same problem....put in stock plastic caps...works fine....took it all back apart put in the new locker, new bearings, plastic cups...spins like a champ...Bad Caps...:evil:....Just wondering if anyone else has used the HR bearing caps in there axles and had this problem....:)

I heard HR makes hit and miss quality items..so you got the miss parts I guess...LOL. :)

When we made our bearing caps, we noticed that problem right away. We ended up having to gauge them very tight to get them correct. Seems like what it is, is that it is crushing the bearings to stop movement, and your gear mesh is prob fine.

How did STRC get it right?? Mine fit awesome!! HR is just junk!!

I do love VP stuff too...more than any company..they are the leaders!! :)

Interesting...wonder how well that bearing works now that you crushed it...didn't know you could do such a thing. I've always shied away from HR stuff anyway
VP obviously has a better quality control
