Making a place for my newly acquired Vertex 6, hopefully make me take more pics when out & about as I suck at that

Nothing is shouting out to be upgraded after the first week which is honestly surprising. I still have not fitted the optional wheel weights as felt no need yet tbh.

At the moment, I can't truly speak about the tires or inserts as these have not had enough mileage to wear in properly as of yet. Initial thoughts though, I give them a thumbs up for sure. Nice, soft rubber that doesn't seem to have a high wear rate. Very good sidewall support.

Weight distribution along with the LCG chassis is very impressive to say the least. The choice of comp body from Redcat was perfect in my opinion, very lightweight @ 266g (.6lb) even with the clipless mount system ... which is just awesome to use to be honest.

The stock shocks have really impressed me so far, no signs of leakage and buttery smooth. The articulation is superb, it is that simple!

The tiny micro 4kg servo for the underdrive has worked flawlessly, has not stuck in any position and does not seem over-worked either. Eager to see how long it lasts. As for the main 70kg servo, what can I say apart from freaking impressive.

I haven't noticed any chassis flex so far, but knowing that three plastic braces are used in the centre ... I will be replacing these with the metal versions from Redcat asap ... messes with head, that simple!

The Redcat RTX-4C controller - no complaints at all. Feels and responds great.

Honestly, for a ready-to-run rc rig ... this has set a new standard of expectations (y)

More to follow, at some point ...

Congrats on this very cool rig! If I had a desire for 1/6th scale I would probably have one of these. As you probably know, it's just a rebranded Yikong YK4061. I like the buggy-like body on the Yikong, but I'm sure it is quite a bit heavier than the Vertex which would definitely hurt performance. And the Yikong no longer seems to have the lower price so I'd choose the Vertex as well.

Hopefully you get some video of it doing work. I'd like to see that.

It's not a rebranded Yikong, more the other way about. There is also differences between the two. The Yikong did not come with the steel insert axle tubes, also come with plastic shock caps. Different tweaks on the Redcat ESC also. Was just spoke about the other night on the Redcat Live Stream.
Prefer the look of the comp style body over the Yikong but I do like that one also.

From what I understand Redcat designed it, but Yikong manufacturers it for Redcat. Is that incorrect?

I didn't know there are differences besides the body. Interesting!

You are correct at Yikong being the manufacturer but it is Redcats design and they are the ones who should be credited imo.

Redcat designed it. Yikong makes it. Seems 50/50 to me. Although getting in bed with China is always risky. Yikong seemingly broke their deal by releasing their version before the Vertex was even avaiable.

the way of world ... it 'aint gonna change anytime soon either. Yeah, Yikong released early ... bet they said "sorry, lost in translation" lol

So, I managed to run a battery earlier (in between being a free taxi for kidda, ah the joys). On the drive down to the new found spot, I was telling the good wife that I need and would be using this session for picture time ... the only topic we talked about. I got 80 minutes run-time from the one battery and all that time ... I didn't even think about the phone in my back pocket :ROFLMAO: Again, was fecking smiling ear to ear and thought of nothing else ... not even a cigarette or coffee so that was a plus I guess ... but still no pics and sitting here full of regret yet again :ROFLMAO: I suck at this posting pics big-time :ROFLMAO:

Yo, IDGAF, at least it sounds like you had a FN blast! Anytime a toy(item) keeps me from smoking/vaping for that long, it's a statement YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT, pics or not.....keep on keeping on.....

Verdict on vertex, sofar...?

I've managed to run 5 batteries through it so far and to be honest ... blown away with it's performance out the box. I've had this thing in a few tight binds so far that's wrapped the tires on the rims with no issues. I was going to put the WDW dig unit in it but now thinking that I like the 33% underdrive more on this thing. Still haven't managed to get the shocks signs of weepage let alone leaking and I have been trying at times, so very impressed with them. Also like the fact that it only weighs 13lb, feels just right on this rig. Managed to find one place in town that gives it a workout and hasn't got every line either so plenty of challenges to be had. No regrets at all, nothing but smiles and even better that it really doesn't need anything upgraded anytime soon (y) Never had any rig this long and still not wanted to change a thing or few (y)

Those front weights seem very small for such a large rig. What's the forward weight bias with and without those weights?

Did you see the awesome Ford Raptor body from JConcepts? Looks like they're teasing wheels and tires too unless those are already offered for the SCX6.

That body might have to find its way on my 1/5 Maxx crawler.... it's tough to find a body for it - this might work out perfect!
