video file types, need some advice.

I've had the GoPro for 1 year now, I'm doing ok with it as far as downloading and editing go. Santa brought me a Kodak Playsport this year. I've shot a sample video, just trying to get the hang of the camera. When I downloaded the vid, it uses the built in Kodak software for editing. I noticed the file type is a .MOV The GoPro uses the .WVM file extension. I tried to copy the Kodak file and rename it as a WVM file but it didn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can make the Kodak videos work on the windows media player?

Does Windows Movie Maker only allow one type of video file to be used?

The file type .MOV is a Quicktime file type. You might think about getting a program to convert file types into what you want. I'm not sure what's out there for a Windows machine but I use, HandBrake, MPEG Streamclip and Quicktime to handle most of my conversions if needed, but I am on a Mac.

Arcsoft Media Converter is a good windows converter. The files convert quickly and to just about whatever type you want. But with the .mov files, you may have to install Quicktime on your PC as well, something about only quicktime has part of what you need to convert the .mov. I would also check your device, see if there is another recording format to choose from.

hey man, i have same problem for long time, and all my video softwares.... before i use corel video studio pro 12, and have same problem with kodak files, now using sony vegas and also hard to work with kodak files....

but what i do i have NERO-8 , and all kodak files i neaded i drop in to nero timeline and safe in to my PC as high quality mpeg movi, then i can edit it with any other software, quick and easy
