Yes, I did search....

I just purchased a new set of voodoo pins for my XR10 and I have no clue what foams to run in them. In my search I did see one crawler mention double Duce foams...

I must mention, my rig is a pig...not a big fan of flyweight rigs

Anybody care to chime in here and give me some suggestions ??

Thanks in advance

Mediums will allow your tire to conform to more jagged surfaces on the rocks to where the firms will have you go over it instead of taking on the shape of what you are going over. I vote mediums as well

Same vote for me. If you are going to spend more time on just rocks, the mediums will hook better. If you are going to be doing high speed stuff and spending time in the dirt, firms will handle better and hook better. With modern compound's I've never had an issue with traction on the rocks around here, so I tend to run DD firms or just full closed cell Deuces Wild setups. Can't go wrong with anything Eddie at Crawler Innovations makes as long as it is the right size for the tire!

Advice on tire compound and foams for my new U4's I will be buying. It's on a 11# wraith and will be mounted up on CAC E-Z lock wheels with 8oz weights per wheel up front and 4oz per wheel out back on a full suspension droop setup. 0 up travel full down travel on 30wt oil. It spends 80% of its time on the rocks and 20% trail. Thank you in advance.

CI DW STANDARD size foams or DD 5.5 or 6" with med outer foams

I'd go with silver, it's a very good all around compound, you can even race with it. Blue is very good in the rocks but needs a solid break in period. Blue is also a very good compound for siping, gooving, cutting, and the such

I bought silver and blue compounds with the idea of blue on the rear...didn't realize the big break in period was extensive. Is my plan way off? I bought the upgraded compound thinking it would shorten the break in period, at least that was the impression I got from the web site. I have no plans to sipe or groove the tires. They were impressively sticky handling them.

Sure wish I had the foams already, can't wait to try these

Thanks for all the suggestions

Ordered some CI double deuce 6.0 comp cut narrow foams, mediums. I have some 7.0" VPs to mount these on. I'll post up a pic when I get them mounted up.

OK, yes if you ordered the treated rubber tires, you're good to go"thumbsup"

So I was looking at these tires along with a fellow crawler and he noticed

There's an "A" and "B" direction printed on the sides. This obviously indicates two distinct tread patterns....and yes, you can see it, and I'm sure some nancy fingers can feel it....no offense Nancy....mine certainly can't.

I don't believe I've seen any discussion or preference mentioned in any threads I've read about these tires....I wonder if there is any real difference?

Here's a pic....courtesy of Ottsix....
If you look closely you can see the different tread directions

Depending on how you setup your foams and which compound you're using, the difference can be hardly noticeable or it can be very noticeable. Use it to really dial in your rig to your driving style. I use 'A' up front and 'B' out back.

It would be easy enough to try both ways (swap tires)...figured I would try that. Interesting you have one of each...looked like "A" would have a bit more bite.

Just a follow up on the purchases ....
Finally, a rainy day in California ....so we mounted some voodoo's

When I first opened the box, I thought "no way these foams are fitting in those tires...but then I remembered my first experience with CI foams...so I dove in. Mounted them up on some older, but seldom used ,.7" VP rims....

I have to admit, after mounting the first one, it was almost an intimate experience with just the squeeze. Don't recall ever being so excited over a new foam and tire combo. I went with the 6.0 medium foams....blue dot rear and silver front Voodoo's.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in on their preferences...you all were right on, can't wait to put this rig on some rocks.
Keep crawling "thumbsup"
