when your rigs go for swims, do your wheels/tires usually suck up all the water that there is to offer? i drilled a couple of holes into my wheels to allow the air to escape, but in retrospect, maybe that wasn't so smart if i'm going into the water.

Yes they do, and it's bad for the foams to get wet. On my waterproof rig I recently decided to go with no holes in the wheels and no foams. I also used some 5000wt silicone diff lub in the bead to help seal it. Seems to work well, although it's a bit soft. I might consider half foams with no wheel holes and see if that stiffens the tires a bit.

I drill a couple small holes opposing each other in the centerline tread. seems to let the moisture out as fast as it come in with the help of centrifugal force (works better on my e-maxx)

If your foams get wet once they dry out they get very brittle and start to break down and crumble. Keep crawling and you'll have dust.

I just put some good quality tape over the hole(s) in the rims for a temp. patch.Works relly good and to me doesn't affect handling, may for others though.Id rather have my rims sealed up then get dirt and water in them anyday.

Yes and no. After I run in water I take the tire off the wheel and the foam out of the tire. I wash everything with warm soapy water and leave out to dry. The foams I have in my Moabs have been in there for 2+ years and show little to no signs of deterioration. If I left them in the tire to dry, they would get nasty really fast.

Technicalities Gerame.... :) Most people don't wanna take their tire/wheels apart all the time. I know I just keep my crawler out of the water and I keep my scalers sealed.

Umm... now i dont wanna check mine. Mine have been in there for a year and ive driven under water a lot. I just squeeze all the water out the holes i can. It still feels like there is foam in there though.
