What did you do today?

No pics, but Saturday I swapped the 272R from my Drag Slash into my Stampede, which I had a grenaded transmission in it a couple years ago and had not gotten around to fixing it. Once I had the 272R in the Stampede, I pulled the blown transmission from apart to see what happened before outting it in the Slash as a placeholder. Found that some of the teeth on the idler and diff case broke off and left some sintered metal shrapnel in the RPM case. After that I just put it back together and stuck it in the Slash for now.

Sunday, I grabbed my Grave Robber Monster Wheely King to mess with the shocks, which are off the E-Savage and E-Zilla and felt those were almost the right length, but too soft. Pulled those, emptied the HPI shock fluid that came with the shocks and had in there for at least a decade at this point. Before refilling them, I pulled the shock ends off and and swapped the bump stops to under the pistons to shorten them a hair before putting them back together and refilling them with some Traxxas 50wt shock oil I had already. Feels like it should be better but I may also order the CPE sway bars if I don’t just buy some piano wire and bend my own. It still needs a motor, ESC, and Rx, which may be a JConcepts Silent Speed 13t and Spektrum 60 amp ESC/Rx combo that will work with the newer DX3 that I have.

I made a thing on the thing maker. Not my design, Printed in PLA Tough, 100% infill, feels solid. The ultra pointy tip won’t last, in fact, I’ll probably intentionally take it off because I don’t want it that way in my pocket.

This is 50% size which happens to equal Pi in size! It’s printed in the wrong orientation (vertical), the neck is weak because of how the layers stack. I’m reprinting printing 2 full size and 2 Pi size now laying flat. Those should be strong in any direction.

If you have to ask, they are for “punching through the soft part of a coconut shell” 🤣
I thought they for stickin dumb mf'ers....you should core the center with a tube structure, to "leak" more "tissue" aka liquid

I'd want it to break off......barbed.......perforated, like a tap on a full keg that just blew/broke.......ALL the juice, out....

Tore into the Zuullet's blown front diff the other day. Meus 8t pinion toast. I had 5 .50 shims on the outside for the driveshaft, but this time I put 1 of those shims inside the housing and the 4 outside and it seemed to be ok still without being too tight.

Shortened the WB on the MT build from 16 inches to 14 7/8ths. Sits much better.
Still need to relocate the shock mounts and move the shocks, at least one, to the axles on all 4 corners.
Also need to shorten the rear drive shaft about an inch. It was nearly to long already.
Ordered a set of LMT wheels and splurged and picked up the Spektrum LMT 2.0 Drive radio system for it.
Kevin Talbot put one on his Primal MT and it worked fine on it, so this build will have full capability on it.
Thinking I'm going to swap out the High Ratio SSD Tranny for a standard 3gear to slow it down.
Once I put on a smaller pinion and larger spur it should be much better in terms of low end gearing.

Spent most of yesterday and a bit of today setting up this old Gateway M460. Clean install of Windows XP Professional SP3, buncha drivers that took me hours to find, couple games n songs, Malwarebytes, Mypal browser, and OpenVPN paired with Proton VPN config files.

Never would I ever wish for anyone to ever have to go through the pain of finding virus-free Windows XP drivers in modern day. 12 hours of installing drivers, reinstalling Windows 3 times, and searching. Still need to find drivers for audio, Bluetooth, SD slot, C/F slot, and probably the ATI X600 too since the driver I installed doesn't seem to notice the card. I got it working though (somehow), virus-free no less.

I've got a Windows 10 laptop that isn't capable to run 11 and I've been told to go PC when I start gaming again but unsure.

Linux is definitely gaining steam for gaming. IMHO, build a desktop and dual boot. I'm a big Debian fan and run Zorin on a couple laptops, the newer laptop does get used for some LAN parties and the old one for reloading calculations, and the wife does some gaming and work stuff on a desktop running Zorin. Mint is also a great choice. You can install a VM, VM Ware is popular, and put Linux in that if you want to see what it's like. If you don't like it just delete the VM.

Proton seems to work pretty dang good. I have some games I play with WINE.

Anything with low level "anti cheat" (I call it malware) probably won't work. Modern COD games come to mind.

If you are thinking of getting an apple computer for gaming, don't bother. Hardware isn't there and nor is the software/game library.

Knightrunner got a transmission swap, an AX2 2spd. With some 3mm spacing, it still fits under the Knight Customs interior.

There's a bracket for the servo to mount on the transmission but it interferes with the interior so this was my solution using the servo horn directly mounted to the shift link with the servo horn screw hole bored out. Seems to work fine. The transmission is pretty noisy with the metal spur but also I think it slightly rubs the interior so I'll just let it clearance itself.

Made the shock tower move on the MT Build. Atleast 1 shock on each corner is on the axle.
PL Dominator wheels came in today after a Friday purchase on Fleabay. I'm literally shocked they're here already.
Still have a Speky LMT 2.0 radio setup with the DRIVE tech on its way. Says Thursday. But other than maybe some 10mm wider hexes to push the front wheels out for a bit more turning, and paint, I think its close to ready to go and for a build thread finally.

What's the width now at the edge of the wheels?
Outside edge to edge is 15 1/2 maybe 5/8ths. I get more turning with these than I did with the SMTs, but even 1/4 inch on each side would be a huge difference. Just have to check the stub and see how much there is hanging out.

Sprayed my terrarium for the last time. RIP Pringle the wolf spider. Gained a lot of knowledge and respect for these things and spiders in general. Maybe I'll get a Tarantula in the future...
