what servo is cool these days?

oh dont get me wrong, i buy from my LHS, but when it comes to electronics they droped the ball, in some casses they literally are 2x the price, last time i was in there they were asking like 80 bucks for a hs645.. rpp = 30 bucks..

you want to needlessly spend money thats fine. if they are within 10-20 bucks of market price then i will buy from them, if they want me to cut my balls off to afford somthing they should rething their buisness plan. id doesnt help they have the manoploy for any one not wanting to drive an hour to the next HS

Out of the 5 LHS's that I have been to in my area, only 2 of them are worth even going back as the others are way overpriced, dont have crap for crawler inventory or the employees/owners are complete dousche bags. I dont feel its necessary to pay 10-15 percent more for the identicle parts, if they online shops can price their parts competitively then the LHS should be able to do so as well.

I went to one of my LHS's about a week ago looking for wire so I could redo my electronics, what kind of freakin hobby shop does not have wire in stock?????

That same lhs wanted 100+ for a soldering station and online it was 40:roll: Go with the 7980 it is only 1 or 2mm bigger in each dimension and has enough torque to do this

Just don't buy it from shavers as they wanted like 250 or something like that:shock:

My 2 cents would suggest to go on hobby king and check out there line of servos rated from 20oz of torque all the way up to 600oz of torque and they have servos that are all aluminum, Thats right the whole servo is aluminum, not just a heat sink. That way your servo stays way cool. They have a bunch of brands to choose from. There also half the price of hitec and futaba:shock:. Some of the servos can handle as much as 12v of power. Just something to check out"thumbsup"

The only problem with Hobbyking is it can take over a month to get your order if it comes from another country & if something goes wrong with you have to send it all the way back for them just to evaluate it and tell you if they will warranty it or not.

well went out today and took a look, really wanted a 7980 as it would fit and man did it look like it would be a sick servo... but at over $100 more then i was findiing on like i said f**K that noise!! and kept looking, they had one lone hs7954 in stock and it was onsale for less then i was finding online! so tho it was pretty far down my list of top contenders it was still on the list so i grabed it..

now for another noob question, i know digitals are suposed to run at 5.5 frame rate, but my dig servo is analog (hs645) so my frame rate is at 16.5ms am i goin to cook my mew servo by doing this, or am i stuck finding a cheap digital to run my dig as well?

the HS645mg can run at 11ms use that setting on your DX3R will be best for both servo's

I run a DX3R aswell and use 11ms, just think, the DX3E cant run 5.5ms the guys using those radios are doing fine.

That's understandable. My city is a smaller sized one and only has 1 true R/C hobby shop. The prices their are really fair. The guy basically chargers you for what you would pay to get it yourself. The Hitec 645MG servos are only like 35/40 bucks from him. I also just get him to order my stuff because it costs the same if I were to put my order in and that way I don't have to use my credit card. I had a Hitec 7980TH order put in and I think it cost me around 125 bucks from him. If their charging 2x the price then that's understandable.

Not to be rude, but I can't stand when people come in the hobby shop, figure out what will work in their rig, then go home and order it online. That's how hobby shops go out of business. Then you have to wait 2 weeks to have a readily available part shipped to your door.

Back on topic. I had a Hitec 7980TH servo in my Savage and it was a monster. I'm going to try running a similar servo in my scale rig one of these days. Nice part about the Hitec 7980TH is it's a digital servo (programmable), water/dust/fuel proof and has a built in heatsink.

Not to be rude as well but i hate driving 45 min to get to my lhs and then it being full of dicks and shit i dont need and when i do need something it takes 2 or 3 weeks to get there than another hour and a half drive just to get it and get it home . online and overnight is the shit .

i wish i could overnite stuff! all the stuff in aus in more expensives so i have 2 wait 4 my stuff 2 be shipped over

It's different if you live 45 minutes away from the hobby shop. I know here in my city guys will come in with their bashers and look up part numbers for upgrades then go home and order online. Then they'll come in and demand help to install the upgrades and then get pissy when there's a fee. If you simply ordered them in (the LHS here is very fair and prices, usually 10 bucks more than the online quote) they're more then happy to help you install them or simply do it for free.

However, if the LHS is basically commiting highway robbery that's different.

On topic: I know the Hitec 7980TH is one of the better servos out there. It's 600oz of torque and is fully waterproofed. I have been a simple Hitec man myself, so I can't vouch for other companies/servos.

iv bin running my jr z9100t for so long i have no idea whats cool, i can say this i will not but another hi tech, never had any luck with them, i used to do alot of 1/8 scale truggy n buggy racing, iv bin running these z9100t for about four years know"thumbsup"

I find these to be VERY interesting. I have the Savox SC-1257TG Standard Size Coreless Titanium Gear Digital Servo .07/139oz in a couple of go fasts.

I am going to use the Savox SC-1256TG Standard Size Titanium Gear Digital Servo .15/277oz in my Class 2 EB build and the Savox SC-1258TG Standard Size Coreless Titanium Gear Digital Servo .08/167oz in my Class one Hilux build.

Savox came from the Giant Class flying arena and is making good headway in the go fast arena. They actually have the highest resolution digital servo in the world with a 12bit 4096 resolution titanium gear coreless digital servo.

I can't speak highly enough of them and for the price they are hard to beat. RPP sells the SC-1257TG for $67.99, the SC-1256TG for $79.99, the SC-1258TG for $67.99. The even have one that does .11/361oz for $95.90 (SC-1268MG)
