Hey guys,
Like just about everyone else I'm suffering from leaky shock syndrome (and springs popping off the perches) :x What shocks are people using to avoid leakiness? I've heard the TRX4 shocks are quite good, anything else that's worth getting? Also, what springs are you guys using on them? Not afraid to spend on good ones :)

Cheers
Simon

Traxxas big bores FTW! Best deal is tra4962 which comes with enough to do 2 rigs for $60.

Boomerang™ Type G Piggyback Internal Spring Shocks w/ Functional Reservoir
i run these in the 100mm version. they sag nicely to give a good ride height.

Are big bores okay length wise for the SCX10? I thought they might be a bit long?

Cheers

Scx10 shocks are 90mm eye to eye. Traxxas big bores part numbers... metal: 2660=83mm eye to eye extended, 2661=93mm, 2662=100mm, 4962 (8pcs)=100mm, plastic: 3760=75mm, 3672=?.

I run Big Bores and love them. Much better quality than anything else I've tried. They make the stock icons look like they should come out of a christmas cracker. I run 2661's up front, and they fit fine. I use the stock SCX10ii springs - they fit over the big bores, but you can't use the spring collars.
I run 2660's at the back, but that's with custom rear hoops to suit a pickup.

People don't really use internal spring shocks on scale crawlers do they? OP, you could also check out the King Shocks by RC4WD. Or the Pro-Line PowerStroke Scaler shocks.

Not exactly the same, but you can choose a tad longer or shorter:

Shock Comparision.jpg

14mm Axial springs work fine on the Traxxas shocks with (Traxxas) spring collars. 12.5mm springs (as used on the SCX10-2 kits) work on Traxxas shocks without collar but will rub the shock body slightly.

They’re ok. Underdamped for my preference (and compared to big bores). They are not as smooth or leak resistant as the BB’s. The dual spring thing is just for show and leads to the mid collar that binds up with use.

Opinions on the internal spring shocks?

Great info, I've used the shorter Traxxas BB on a build, nice options.

I use the trx4 shocks, no leaks and they have a few different springs u can use for tuning.

TRX-4 shocks are the new scale standard, no leaks, smaller diameter therefore more scale looking, durable. "thumbsup"
