So i am new to scale building what is the difference between 1.5 , 1.9, etc? I have a Losi MRC that i will be using to try out scale building, so what size is that and where can i find similar builds? Thanks for the help.
I might be wrong because this is all new to me,but I think the numbers you have listed refer to wheel size and not scale reference. Everything I found on the net for that vehicle indicates that it would fall into the 1/10th scale bracket. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct this...Doc
I am not familiar with the Losi MRC, so cant really help you with that one. There are a lot of brand specific areas here, have you tried looking thru those? or maybe a search for that particular model might turn up some good info. (the search function can be your friend, if you let it be. ;-) )
The number is the diameter of the the rim. 1.5 is 1 and a half inches across the rim. Your mac is a 1.9 rig i belive. Take a ruler to Tue time, and see for yourself.
You're mrc should have 1.9 rims on it, and is 1/18 scale I believe. I would suggest also just searching the 1.55 and 1.9 sections for builds with mechanical axles as there has been quite a few. They're a perfect axle for something like a clod buster body to tuck the tires in under the truck for a more scale look. Welcome to the site there is a wealth of scale knowledge here.
Typically because of the width of mrc axles, the mrc drivetrain is popular for class1 builds. Actual scale size is a relative thing, proportion is another thing and unmistakable.
As was mentioned, the sizes you listed are wheel sizes.
If you're looking to build a Class 1 scale comp rig or just a really scale rig the MRC 1/18 scale rig is a good candidate for a 1/10 scale build due to the axle width and overall look.
For example, this Blackfoot body is actually slightly smaller than 1/10 sale and the axles look great under it (in my opinion).
You can build or buy a scale chassis and swap all the running gear from the Losi into a scale build.
Most of the builds here at 1/10 scale, but most bodies are only close to that, not exactly, so each wheel size whether 1.9, 1.55 or 2.2 are going to look slightly different under a given body.
wheel size is closely related to actual 1:1 rim size- 1.5= 15" rim. 1.9= 19" rim. 2.2= 22" rim. also to note just as the 1:1 goes; the taller the rim, generally the taller the tire (at least with trucks). but some peeps just have to get there bling on and run a stupid tall rim, with some kind of AT tread with a whoping 4" sidewall. clearly they have no idea how ridiculous that looks.
