Pebble Pounder
I'm faced with a decision, and just haven't been able to reach the trenches on either side. So i wanted to reach out to the RCC Crew and kindly ask for some input.
An SCX10 rocking SSD D60 axles, Axial Universals, SSD Pro steering setup and Alum Rear Lockouts, STRC Alum skid and shock towers, VP Alum front bumper mount and CMS (don't used it), as well as Axial Alum links.
VS
A stock RTR SCX10 II ready for some love.
I would like to pour me heart (and hobby funds) into only one of these dudes. I will part with the other. What would you do?
It is worth noting that my intended driving style with the eventual rig will be focused on some even trailing and good crawling. My Power system on hand, a HH PP Stubby 2200kv and TM BLE setup will go with the one that stays, along with the good servo. Same with quality Wheels foams and tires. So whatever truck stays gets that treatment right from the start
The SCX10.
A semi-recent trade is mostly responsible for it's current state. I picked up a roller that was in horrendous shape, but full of some goodies. I broke it down, cleaned, and rebuilt with much love and a little coin the axles, trans, and other parts. Latest upgrade has been the SSD Pro steering kit - man that really woke this truck up - the increase in steering performance over stock is amazing. It has been a really great, and really meditative experience, driving my Stock SCX10, doing all the work in rebuilding and upgrading, and continuing to drive as my skills improved, and the performance of the truck has improved. It all has been very rewarding. Moreover, I know this truck, know it's performance, know its limitations - very predictable and comfortable. Parting with this truck would be bitter sweet.
V2
I have Driven an SCX10 II Kit version a little. It can follow the V1 through every line it has taken. I have yet to switch those roles. I’m super impressed with the stock clearance (skid and axle) and especially the steering geometry. Even with the SSD Pro steering upgrade on the V1, I feel the V2 has a bit more. The community seems to agree, the improvements over the V1 are immense, especially in the axle arena. Seems the future holds great promise for this model.
