Whats the deal?

Its been about a month since I drove my mrc but I charged the battery and put new ones in the control and now when I drive it it seems like it dosen't have much power. And once when I was trying to climb a big slick rock the esc got to hot and shut off, it has never done that to me before. If you know what the problem is please let me know what it is, what I need to do to fix it, and where I can get the parts. I only use this for a toy so I'm not looking to spend alot for all the best parts, just want it to play around with. Sorry for the noob question.

my guess would be your battery pack is just bad from the sounds of it my sugestion would be to borrow a friends batt and try it see if it still dose the same thing

Yeah try cycling the batteries a few times might be from sitting . The only thing that sounds off is that you said the esc got hot and shut off . Did you temp gun it or just feel it and it was hot or you just think it was to hot because it shut down ? cause with the stock battery when it going dead it will stop working and then if you wait a few minutes and try it ,seems to come back to life . might be tricking you into thinking the esc cooled down and started working again. but probably just is a bad battery. good luck

The light on it turned red and wouldn't work untill it turned green again. It never did run the battery down and it cut out about 5 minutes after I started driving and then I probably drove it for another 5 minutes. I am new to the whole rc thing so tell me what I don't know.
