hoping there are some nitro touring car guys here that can help me out, its been so long since ive been around it that ive lost all my contacts.

took my nitro tc3 out bashing today, it was running decently, a little rich, then all of the sudden it didnt sound quite right and died. checked the glow plug to find it smashed and coated in aluminum. upon inspection, i found a broken piston

the motor was a rossi pixi black, its quite a few years old now. motor was rebuilt last spring with a fresh piston and sleeve. it has maybe 1/2 a gallon on it after rebuild, today was actualy the first time ive gotten to push it since then. long story short, i had a hell of a time finding parts for this motor one year ago, i doubt its got easier, so i guess im in the market for a new motor. still unsure what route i want to go (might just throw a sport motor in to have fun, maybe a bigblock, or another race motor), but id like to keep the thing race legal. im not racing right now, however id like to get back into it in the future.

anyways, whats the hot nitro touring motor these days???

how long has it been since you raced, cause i think the 15cvx was a fast motor in 1998. now if you mean the 15 cvR, then they are decent, but not race legal. i have one thats now in need of a rebuild, was never near what my rossi was, not by a long shot. unless things have changed, os engines are rock solid fairly easy to tune motors that have the performance of a sport motor with the race motor price.

That is when I raced. It was only on the local level. 1998-2001 I was the one to beat. I ran that motor in a touring car and a stadium truck set up to run both asphalt and dirt.

yea back in the day they were a great motor, however now i think almost any rtr motor would kick its but. its amazing how far the model engine technology has changed.

I have a Sirio evo4 sti whatever it is called! Really dependable motor and ultra fast. Also runs pretty cold (98 celsius) with the sirio centax setup. I am not a nitro setup guru, but this little guy can keep up with all the rest Italians like novarossis and piccos and is way smoother and faster than the respective OZ .12. Excuse my ignorance in model names but I've been out of racing for years, I just hit the track occasionally just for the fun of it.

sirio was just getting big when i got out of racing a few years ago, however now im having a heck of a time finding any sirio engines for sale. the same thing happened with rossi motors. i know with rossi it was because trinity was the distributor for them, and they then decided not to continue with them. in fact iirc trinity was the distributor for sirio.

i have run a picco 12 before, i wasnt a big fan. it made power but was very finickey, and from what i remember its a common thing with picco smallblocks. the novarossi/hpi motor i had was great for its day, but when i sold my last car it went with it. rb concept used to be huge, however they dont seem to make any smallblocks anymore. im at a loss for whats hot, it seemed like nitro touring was a dying breed, now im more sure of that than ever
