Wheel hubs have 7mm hole for axle!?

I have a set of 2.2" wheels for my Wendigo and they work loose every time I drive it.

On closer inspection I noticed that the holes at the centre of the hubs are 7mm rather than 4mm. This provides pretty poor mechanical contact and basically means the wheel slops about and works the nut loose (no matter how much threadlock I use.:

I've taken a look on line at alternative 6 bolt hubs and checked on the spares I have and they all seem to have this 7mm axle hole.

I can't see how this is right. Am I missing a component here (some kind of shoulder washer maybe??

Thanks.

I was going to suggest that part, well not the one for the TRX4 though.
They make another version that fits the Enduro, SCX10.2, Trail king and others. The inner hole ID on this one is just over 4mm (4.1mm or so)

You could also try to seek out hubs that dont use the axial style stepped hex.

Also get some new nylocks for the wheels, technically these are a one use only item (nobody does this with RC though) maybe try some flanged serrated type.

I honestly try not to remove my wheels too often these days to avoid wearing out the wheel nuts.
