Where is a good place to pick up an assortment of small metric screws for R/Cs? I want a large varity. I would like some long ones and I would also like to get some socket head cap screws in the mix. Stainless steel would be nice too. Is there anywhere to get a good assortment like this?

Thanks,

Yama-Bro

I know a bunch of people on here and other webpages bash them over and over again for being cheap/weak etc, but I relentlessly ordered in the RC Screwz anyways from my LHS. $60 for 450 pieces. It gave me basically everything I might need (varying sizes for servo mounting) and some I probably won't use at all (doh).

Recently I purchased a 100 pack of 3mm x 25 button head screws from my local hardware supplier and it came to about $22 CDN after taxes.

So, if its about $20 for a 100pack of screws, then I would only have 3 different sizes for the same cost as the Rc Screwz 450 pack, plus I have the extra 150 more screws. If I was to have purchased lock nuts, plain nuts, washers from the supplier, it probably would have wound up being somewhere around $100+ in hardware (approx). I would be charged "accordingly" if I purchased smaller quantities (ie. 25 or 50). So why bother paying more money for less amount of screws.

The RC Screwz are working out fine for me. I have no complaints. Although looking back I wish I took some more time and custom made my order instead of ordering what was already there.

oh btw - www.brafasco.com is what I was referring to.

www.McMaster-Carr.com

They have every screw, always in stock, really great prices and ship really really fast. I placed an order last night and received it this morning, it hasn't even cleared my bank account yet! Almost quicker than going to the local hardware store and hunting for what you need.

I know I will probably get flamed for this, but I have a radio shack right around the corner from the house, and for super cheap they have some good quality small screws. I guess their used on computers and stuff. who knows? they work for me with a little blue thread lock.

You got to watch your local hardware stores to. I live in a rural town and have a place called Feldmans you can get the same screws hobby shops sell for good money and they have them there for pennies

yup yup

i use mc-master car or great planes screw kits from the LHS.
comes with 4 screws, 4 nuts, 4 washers, and a allen wrench, any size usually about $1.50

metricspecialties.com and they have any size/head type in stock always.

you may want to re-think using stainless steel hardware. i know some guys are fans of it, but it is brittle and prone to breaking.
