Where have the comp crawlers gone??

Thanks alot for all the informative replies. After much research, I've decided to go for the Axial Wraith and I'm going to add the optional dig unit from them as well. It's a shame that the 2ch radio will be wasted, as I have to upgrade to a 3ch radio for the dig unit. I'm also upgrading to a RC4WD 55 turn crawler motor and Pit Bull rock beast 2.2 tires. Any suggestions on pinion count with this setup, looking for serious crawling ability, no racing.
My wraith rtr and my honcho both came with 3ch radios out of the box.

I'm a little confused, the Axial site has all of their RTR kits coming with 2 ch radios.....

I saw that as well, and my wifes JK did come with the 2 channel they show on their site.

Honcho and Wraith came with this setup: Tactic TTX300 3-Channel SLT Radio

Both RTR.

I thought it was something weird with my Wraith RTR until we ordered the Honcho and it came with the same thing. 2 different vendors.

Can anyone else confirm or deny this? I haven't placed my order yet and was planning on getting the TTX300 seperatly, but if I can get it as part of the RTR, I will.

The MOA world is about to get much better in the coming weeks to!

What do you mean by this? Is there something hiding behind a curtain that you already know about?

Weeks is an interesting word to be used unless the date is already known.....

He is the curtain...... This is not major manufacturer information, but custom quality design with thousands of hours in testing with a little added technology to bring costs down. If you know anything about Dlux is he is kind of a crazy scientist type with the gears always spinning trying to innovate. I've only seen a glimpse of whats to come. I have a feeling that MOA is going to become almost as accessible as it was with the Xr10....... minus major distribution and sold in LHS covering the country..... But who knows.

I like the sound of that and have seen all the amazing things Dlux makes I can't wait. Where might all the rest of us get this "glimpse" as well?

New product info and deals.... the top link on this forum, his facebook page Dluxfab..... also look for the writing on the wall.... he's supremely dedicated to comp crawling and he's doing alot to keep the life blood flowing for this hobby.

He is definitely all of that and more. I found some info on FB he is now using CNC so all of his parts will now be very affordable. Which is awesome!! I was just dreaming big and thought he might have a ground up Dlux axle coming??

Sucks I got into crawling right as scale came in so I never got to mess with sporty or moa crawlers

It's not to late it just needs more die hard enthuses to make sure it never dies I'm not sure which but I'm going to build one or the other as soon as I finish a few of the honeydew list LOL

I'm with ya buddy. I'm still rockin' a frankenstein AX-10 scorpion. I recently renewed my interest in RC and started looking for an XR-10 to find they're discontinued.

I found a base XR-10 kit for $145 but you still needed all the electronics down to the motors. I'm on the fence with building one of those or dumping more money into my old beat up toy. There's some XR-10's still floating around eBay.

The scaler or rock racer style rigs perform more like their lifesize counterparts which makes it inviting for those coming from that world like myself. I have a wraith that I've completely changed the geometry on to make it a big performer for crawling. So there is a lot of room for creativity in your builds as well.

Coming from the FS world I liked the comp crawler setup to do stuff that was way beyond the realm of what my full size could have ever done.

The price fluctuates based on the current exchange rate. I am getting the bug to build a MOA myself and the wife will want to kill me again.

Starts out wanting a comp crawler then opts for a scale rig that sucks at crawling.........

If you want a comp crawler, build one based on research. If you can not afford to build what you want bide your time and buy something that is close to it and then modify it over time.

The XR10 was only successful after most of the parts had been replaced.
A dig equipped shafty is going to struggle against its MOA counterparts unless you can drive the shit out of it and have at least a years experience on that car. Driving it 3 hours every week.

Things have changed a lot in 6 years, best way you can educate yourself on that is reading build threads here and heading to your next local round just to see what the cars are like and what they can do.
