Anyone got any ideas on where to score a big plastic hard body? Something other than the f150/avalanche/h2 r/c's? Like some tonka truck or something? I tried building a tube frame but I suck so I'm going to go back to a truck body.

My current truck has about 15.5" wheelbase.

I saw a big HUMVEE roller at KB Toys for $40 that I might use. Not exactly what I want, but better than a stupid H2

Willys, Hummer, TJ; any of those sound alright? If so I'll put in the effort to finding the links again.

Yea, just not H2. Original hummer is cool. Basically anything semi-realistic looking that could handle a rollover. One of those big old millitary old school jeeps with no top wouldnt do well in a rollover.

I know of 1 1:5 scale hummer, and I'm pretty sure there are other slightly smaller ones... The Willys would need a cage or something. I'll look around again. Maybe we can change this to the "Large Scale Bodies FAQ" or something if I find enough stuff.

Too bad you cant get just the body on the Rubicon.

Check your local Target store if you have one, mine had the New Bright Rubicon on sale for $60 before Christmas. They probably had 30 of them in stock at the time. I may head back this weekend to see if they are down to $50. It's not just the body, but it's better than paying $90-$100 for a complete truck...

I went to Toys R Us tonight, and saw that F-250 truck or F-350...and it'd be PERFECT for a scale build, has full interior, the bed would need covered, hs about 15-20 NOS bottles in it, but it'd be perfect, bout 15-17 inch wheelbase and it's pretty wide as well, has actuall mirrors that fold in, headlight buckets it looks like, i mean if you wanted like a scale "Search and Rescue" truck, this is it!

The Hummer isn't that bad either...

if you did it right you could remove all the fake nos bottles build a snug top and store your elecs in the bed. out of sight out of mind. if nuthing else some cardboard cut to fit covered in fiberglass body repair could make a bed cover.just a idea.
