Which servo is better the JR 8711 or Hitec 7950?
Which one is better and why?
Please list any experiences you have had with either one of these servos, I need to choose and they are expensive, so I want to get the most reliable one. Thanks

i've burnt up alot of 8711's! i've been running the 7950 for a couple months now with no trouble what so ever! all the power you could want! flings my 6 pound berg around no problem!

Is the JR a newer released servo? Does the community have less experience with it compared to the Hitec?
So far the Hitec has gotten many more votes.

The JR has been around for a few months. The Hitec 7950 just got put out not too long ago. I bought one at RppHobby $115, Price is still good! I like it alot. I had the 7955tg and upgraded to this.

I have two bergs. One with the JR and one with the Hitec. I like the hitec better, seems to have more grunt, possibly due to the 7.0v bec I run with it where I only trust the JR with a 6.0v bec. On the other hand, the JR warranty is really amazing.

I use the JR 9100 and love it, its a little faster than the 8711 but a little less torque. I really like it reliable, and a good 3 year warrenty.

i used a hitec 985 for years and really liked it with no issues, she finally gave up the ghost when on the LCC and too much steering throw.

you will be happy with either, its like comparing ford to chevy in my opinion.

Hitech for sure has got my vote. 7.4 is not the total you could run it at. Even the Super artical in the latest R/C Crawler issue had one running at 8.0v. Crazy torque and more than my heavy ass Bully truely needs. Yes, 400+ oz of torque is noticable or 333oz. but do you really NEED that much more. anything from 333-400+ will make a heavy rig still dance if strait up on it's front wheels. Warrenty is plenty good IMO on either of them.

i dont have a 7950 but i do have a 7955tg and i have never had problems with it while on my clod super i had the jr8711 and ive gone through 2 top cases from the gear pin bores wearing out and it has more slop that id like but it has lasted over half a year so far next will be the 7950 or something else hitec comes out with when it goes

I have a 8711 and its good. Its loud, buzzes a lot and glitches sometimes. Its been through hell and still kickin. Ive also got a 5990TG and its quiet, smooth and strong. I like the fact the hitecs can be adjusted with their servo programmer. And for that, my vote is for hitec.

I have both. I run the 8711 on my Losi and I run the 7950 on my bully. I like the hitec better only because of the extra power AND when I busted off an ear off hitec sent me one for free (I even told them it was my fault:mrgreen:)

I started using the 8711 when they first came out in early 2007 in my 7.75lb 2.2's, and I've lost count of how many I've owned over the years. I stripped a gear in one servo, and that was the only failure I've ever had with them. I've had lots of Hitec's as well, and let the smoke out of several of them. I currently have the 7950 and it works fine.
Either servo is as good a choice as the next one. The 7950 can be run at a higher voltage than the 8711, but it will wear the servo out faster too doing that, and they are both the same torque at 6v.

all i run is hitec- enough said

Well I guess since you said that that is all we need to know  :ror:

I have never used the hitec model that you are talking about, but I have used the JR8711 in my comp rigs. I will say that after a good year of heavy use the 8711 gets a little beat-up, sloppy, and occasionally I will see and feel a tiny glitch. Luckily they have an awesome warranty so I can send it in and get it fixed. I'm not sure what kind of warranty Hitec has.

They are both good servos have a 8711 in one berg and the hitech 7950 in my other berg the 8711 has major crawl time on it and is showing signs of wear but i would shows signs of wear with that much use.I have had no issues none with the 7950 which i have two of along with several other ti hitechs.
