I know, I know...not another Honcho thread. Well, it's my first Honcho, first scaler, first kit, first 1:10, and my first build thread. Well, this really won't be a build thread, as the Honcho has been built and ran. So we will call this thread a 'built' thread.

I researched on this forum for months before I ever got the Honcho Kit. I think that research has paid off in what I have in my Honcho. I didn't get the best of everything. But, as we all know, we are never finished. The quintessential list of parts:

  • Axial Honcho Kit
  • Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster BR-XL Waterproofed ESC
  • RC4WD 35T Motor
  • Spektrum DX3E Radio and SR300 DSM 3-channel receiver
  • Spektrum S200 digital servo
  • Hand Brothers CMS Kit
  • Axial Rear 4-link
  • Dark Soul 1.9 OMF Aluminum Bead-lock Wheels with pin weights (x5)
  • RC4WD 1.9 Rok Lox (x5) with Proline Foams
  • Robinson Racing Hardened Steel Idler Gear and One Piece Hardened Steel Outdrive
  • Axial Under-drive rear axle gear set
  • Custom front bumper by engin 13
  • Axial TR Honcho Body
  • Power Wing 2200mAh 2s lipo battery from LHS
  • Several Decal Sheets (I love stickers:ror:)
  • Other miscellaneous parts as needed

This thing is very impressive. I was shocked at some of the places it was able to go. The pictures don't do the location justice. Some of those places are very steep. This spot is within walking distance of my house. I actually drove the Honcho back today. I am very happy with the performance of this Honcho. I have needed a winch a couple of times, but still debating between a servo winch or 3Racing. I have a RC4WD Bulldog wired winch, but it will not fit on this bumper.

As you will see in the pictures, the front bumper is scratched and dented. That was carnage on the first run, along with a broken rear link, after a hard end-over-end flip:cry:.

On to the pictures...

Is there a reason you mounted the sliders upside down?

Couple reasons: first, to be different; second, so the outer part of the slider would hit and slide before the mounts underneath caught on something.

Very nice man. You got a very solid honcho. Especially dig the front bumper. It screams beefy

Thanks. I wasn't feeling the tube bumpers. I like presence.

Nice mods. i'd like to see how you hooked up your extra rock lights. "thumbsup"

Thanks.

The rock lights, or any lights for that matter, are not wired with LEDs yet. I am debating what kit to get. I am leaning toward Chaotic Crawlers because I can get any combo of colors I want. I was thinking of green rock lights--to match the body and be different.

As far as mounting them...I used some small plastic hex nuts from a parts tree for a spacer, and screws left over form the kit. Screw through an existing hole and into the plastic hex nut and into the light bucket. I did have to drill out the existing hole in the front for the screw to fit. The light buckets will allow the wires to go over the frame to be protected.

hi btoungette;

<DIR>hi btoungette;
I agree from Turkey ... (I'll try to write English with google translation)
made me happy to see another photograph of my bumper...
that hit on bumper look more realistic... if you slide the winch left or right it might fit.
you need hole and winch can not be at the middle

With Regards

The bumper definitely has character now. I beat it up every time I roll the truck.:cry:

The RC4WD winch barely fits between the hoops on the bumper. It more comparable to a 1/8 size 3Racing winch. I am still studying my options on modifying the bumper for a servo winch. I see you have a new version of the bumper on eBay that would actually work better for the servo winch.
