As most of you know we are having a butt load of wild fires down here in East Texas. We haven;t had any rain at all out we are in a major drought and fires have been popping up left and right. Thousands and thousands of acres have been burnt and still burning and several hundred homes destroyed. In one county (Cass Co.) there has been atleast 30,000 acres burnt down. Unfortunately where I live at in Hallsville, Tx, the wild fires are all around us and you know that fires can move quick especially when there is alot of wind and no water. They have every fire department and volunteers fighting the fires and they are working their asses off to try to fight these fires, they have even called in the National Guard to help fight them. I ask you guys to please keep everyone and us in East Texas in your prayers while we try and make it through this hot and smokey disaster. Right now I am safe but I have seen fire change paths quickly. Here is a link to see the updates on the wild fires in Texas. http://www.kltv.com/link/510293/active-fire-map-tamu

My thought's are with you from down under mate, we go through this most summers where I come from and it's never a nice thing.

Thanks, our economy suck enough as it is now and this really puts a hurt on us. We are losing money every day with these fires and luckily but sadly we only lost 2 in this fire, a mother and her 18month old that couldn't escape the fire that surrounded her house.

Feeling your pain. I live just over the line in Shreveport and have several friends in Vivian, LA where the fires have crossed the state line. There are 3 big fires raging on the Texas/Louisiana lines. Aint seen nothing like this in 20 hrs!

All prayers going up for the entire area.

Thats where most of the smoke in my area is coming from is up in Jefferson and over towards your way. all of the ArkLaTex area is covered in it all the way down to Mexico, that is alot of fires.

My god, I had no idea it was that bad. Im really sorry that its like this. I fear many tinmes that this will happen to Montana as it gets so dry here every year. this has been the only year it has rained like this.

I know a ton of ranchers have been sending the Texas cattle up here to other ranches because of the food available and water.

we pray for ya boss.

Wow. I just could not imagine being down there and pray for you guys...

Central Texas is no better. At least we're no longer surrounded by fires, but we're already up to 1000 homes gone and counting. The biggest fire just east of Austin is still not contained. Here's a shot of downtown Austin from yesterday. Not good...

pretty much 2/3 of Texas is cover in this crap right now, i think this is the biggest yet and it is destroying all of the ranches and homes. our fields are so dry that the grass sounds like snow when you walk on it and you can feel it through yours shoes.

Yeah, man, it's really a sad state for all involved. I hope y'all make it through this okay. Unfortunately, I have many friends who have already lost everything. I'm fortunate to live in town so it's not likely I'll get hit by the fires, but at this point who knows what will happen.

Months of 100-110 degree temps and no rain will do this.

Thanks guys, I think we should be ok for now. But another fire could strike anytime around my house. The cops were chasing kids down shooting roman candles into peoples yards, dumbasses

My thoughts are definitely with you guys...we (SC Forestry Commission) have sent several of our guys down there to help so far. I may be on the way unless something drastic changes...

This is crazy. Never thought I would be living in a FEMA controlled area. The fires have been very close to me as well. I live about 20-30 miles west of Jesse. The two that lost their lives were just down from me an that is one of two fires that have been giving us trouble in my spot. I think we are pretty much out of danger here now but you never now. And on top of that our stupid ass president oh blah blah rejected disaster relief funding. And FEMA has sent our local guys home. They said they had it handled. Yet people are defending their own homes. What a joke.

Its a scary situation. I'm not actually over there with the fires, but my parents retirement home is on Lake O' The Pines. The fire in avinger was threatening their area for a while.

Found out that several of the local VFD are out of money and asked FEMA for help. They told them that they did not fill out all the paperwork before fighting the fires so they are SOL. So I guess next time more than 2 people have to die and some more structures should be lost.
