Wobbling front wheels

I am new to this, just picked up an AX-10 RTR. Last night I took the wheels off and added weights to both front wheels. I also took the front axle apart to add the locker and put everything back together.

After replacing everything (I didn't cut the foam, I was too chicken until I researched how to do it more) I was running the truck on flat ground today and noticed that the front wheels look like they are wobbling. I verified that they are seated and properly tightened.

What could be going on here? Is this anything to be concerned about?

Is it the actual wheels or just the tires? If it's the tires, your foams are probably not seated quite right. You just kind of finagle them around until they're all even, you don't have to take the tire back off unless the foams are twisted up real bad, just sort of roll the wheel around and work the foam back and forth by squeezing the tire.

Its probably just the tires making it look like the wheels messed up....if you're all about crawling you don't have to worry about the wobble, no high speed issues

This happened to me too.

It is likely the weight added is not 'balanced.' If you didn't equally place the weight around the rim (which is hard to get perfect without a balancer ), when you get up to speed, the difference in weight will make it 'wobble.'

FWIW, if I could get mine going any faster, it'd start hopping off the ground at full speed from being out of balance. :flipoff:

...What'd you use for weight?

Same here. I freaked out and took the weights off and the wobble stopped. But Like these guys said, No hi speed so it works..

If the weight in the wheels are actually out of balance, that could be helpful. I've heard of people trying to mount weights to where if the rig flips, the wheels wobbling around out of balance causes the rig or one of the axles to rock enough to catch traction. I think that was one of the advantages of the Mayhem Double Fatties, the "active" weight system eventually stabilizes under centrifugal force when enough wheelspead is achieved, effectively creating an out of balance situation, causing the axles or rig to rock and catch traction.

This is probably your problem . Tcabner got it right, but what I use when installing foams is a trick I use from nitro racing. Put some baby powder in the bare tire. Then add the foam weather iits memory or straight composite foam. I use johnsons baby powder cause its made of "slippery plates" . The powder allows the tire and foam to slip and slide so as you either get lug fold over or get the tire compressed as your installing the lock ring. I've used this method for years and only once have I had a off balence tire. And that was cause I was useing a smaller size foam so when the tire expanded it threw the foam to one side of the rubber.

Mounting tires is a paietent mans game. I normally mount my rubber while on the toilet.
