Worlds Greatest Drag Race 2: Motor Trend

Motor Trend sucks!

A Camaro, not a Z06...?

A 200 horse Subi, if they were looking for comic relief they should have used a Smartcar...

A non-turbo 911...?

No Audi R8...?

Worlds lamest drag race.

also, this...

2013 gt500 came in 4th. I have to say that ford has really stepped up that car this time. For the price you can't beat it IMO. Came in 4th just behind a gtr. And it will do 200+ from the factory. 5.0 mustang did a huge article on it in there September edition. Well worth reading if your a mustang fan. I agree they should have used a corvette instead of the camaro. I don't really care for either being a ford fan but I definatly prefer the new corvette, no doubt a sick ass car. Still no match for a ford gt or a viper though.

Wow, a 10.8 second 132mph factory showroom car? Sure it's unobtainable by most of us, but could you imagine taking that for a road trip? Cars sure have come a long ways since the '70s. I remember how fast my built '70 Chevelle SS 396 was and it ran 12.85 @110 mph (it had a top speed of 110). Couldn't imagine something that pulled that hard to 200mph......

The problem with these is its about driving experience, not exact power or speed but how much fun the driver has on a track.

The ZL1 is a dedicated Track Car too many people will buy for road use. The z06 considered long in the tooth and therefore easily overlooked.

The Subie is a blast to drive, its slow, but like a Miata or S2000 just a great handling car. Sure it needs more horsepower to sell to the average american, but those who love tracking or autox'ing will enjoy the car immensely. Plus being new it gets in this race.

No Audi R8 was in last year, didn't do so well, why re-include? They are not that great as a supercar. Audi should leave supercars to their Lamborghini division.

I am going to agree on the Porsche even though I don't like Porsches. 911 turbo is a great option and would be much quicker than most, my friends older 996 911TT is tuned and open exhaust and showed a GT-R a thing or 2 in many highway pulls. Amazing how quick that his 11yr old car is.

I think the lesson here is that anything not specifically built to go fast in a straight line is still confusing to most Americans.

To heck with a Z06, wheres the ZR-1 Corvette or a ZL-1 Camaro instead of a damn SS? Lets throw a Impala in the mix, its got around 280 horses, why not? Its always cool to see a drag race. But I have to say that this particular one was pretty lame.

Did you watch the video? They used a ZL1 Camaro, not an SS.

Also in what world is it exciting to drive a stupid Impala around a track. This is not a drag race for drag cars. It is a drag race for the BEST DRIVER'S CARS. This means the car must be fun to drive on one of those tracks that aren't oval.

You mean the kind of tracks that go in a straight line? 'cause there are only two kinds of tracks here in 'merica...oval, and straight. And when you think about it, even the straight ones are like ovals. Left turn onto the track, left turn off of the track.

That time of the month?

Actualy no, I didnt watch the entire video. I skipped the talk and went straight to the racing. My mistake.

I was using sarcasm when referring to the Impala. Still no reason for not running the ZR-1 Corvette though. BTW, I frikken hate Nascar, there was no connection between my comment and some ol' roundy round racing. And these arent Drag cars, if anything most of them fall into a Touring class than Drag class. Put them on a road course and the placing would be entirely different.

Hope your day gets better.

This video is advertised as "the worlds greatest drag race", it's far from it and it's going to get bashed!

I bet a Z06 would smoke a ZL1 in the 1/4 mile, and have better visibility when parking at the mall...

Placing a mid level "sports car" against 500hp cars is a joke, plain and simple.

No Audi R8 was in last year, didn't do so well, why re-include? They are not that great as a supercar. Audi should leave supercars to their Lamborghini division.

The V10 R8 GT would have been a worthy competitor against the other super car(s)...

Wow, we agree. "thumbsup"

Lambo's have a reputation for giving the occupants
a visceral experience (read uncomfortable), now a BMW M5 is a comfortable experience with a visceral side that's just mashing the skinny pedal away.

I understand this was a component in the "best drivers cars" competition, however how they came up with the list is baffling me to say the least. As I stated above the field is almost full of 500hp cars, then a 200hp subi, WTF. Not having the BMW F10 M5 in the field is a joke, 500+hp, 4.4sec 0-60, and 4 doors, and can handle the twistys better than a straight axle Furd...

I stand by my original statement, Motor Trend Sucks.

I called the top 3 before this race even started. The only real drivers car I know of that could beat the aventador is the Bugatti Veyron. For price per fun factor the mustang wins hands down, but im glad they added the 200 hp subaru. I notced how quick the Subaru stopped and turned that donut at the end, looks like it would be fun to drive. But all BS aside, I think if we all had our choice, the Aventador would be in the garage. Can you imagine the strange you could pick up in that thing? The Mustang is sweet but the only real reaction you'd get is hmmm, nice ass stang pal. In the Aventador, you'd attract droves of crowds sitting at a red light for God sakes. Imo, the Aventador is by far the hottest Lambo to ever leave the factory.
