So I decided to put little more effort into my "transforming" wraith, as it has been scale III car for a while, and been foffing with brushed electronics also.
But now is time to get little more serious with it :flipoff:

Sanwa MT-4, telemetry for motor and esc temps
Hitec HS-7954SH
Castle SV3 / 1406 4600kv
CC Bec

Goal with this rig is lightweight, so all the way plastic. When keeping it light it holds up just fine. (but I also keep spares in toolbox...)

At this moment he`s sitting at ~2300g and there are few more tricks up my sleeves..

Also I`m trying to keep the weight down low.. This in mind I fabricated new battery tray. First piece laminatig CF with vacuum.

After that pic I trimmed it to fit, final weight was 6.8g

And here at place...

With full compression upper links touch the battery tray but that should not be a problem..

In the (hopefully not too distant) future there is plans to make CF panels for it ;-)

There was a little f**k up with the molding (too little wax on plugs) but nothing than wet sanding wont cure.

And heres a little clip from first run at a tiny sand hill

I see an SV2 esc you're running there what motor are you coupling with that? I'd suggest strapping on a cheap 12v brushless fan from radio shack over it with zip ties.

Those Sidewinders are notorious for heat even with a CC BEC to take some of the load off...then again I run them on 3s all the time. With FOFF I'd imagine you're running some sort of brushless motor 2 pole or 4 pole 540 size?

Keep in mind that sand and WOT hill climbs will definitely put a tremendous load onto the esc/motor especially with paddles too.

Good luck and great looking Wraith! I love low slung Wraiths....I'm working on a 1.9 SCX10 axled MMP/Tekin 3500HD Wraith build myself at the moment but meant to be a track runner to hang with the short course buggies and trucks for just laughs.

Check out my build thread in my signature the Orange Crush Ultra4 EB build!

Thanks :)

That is actually Sidewinder 3..With castle 4600kv 4-pole.

Heat is well known issue and is monitored carefully now at the beginning, so far has not gone above 45 celsius on esc, motor ~35-38c. So feeling safe so far.
But I also have small fans with sand protection standing by in case it should be needed.
Also have amp meter to take measurements, 36A max so far. Have to try with softer sand, with little bit harder sand there is not much traction.

And here`s little incar clip from our midsummer days trainings

First carbon roofpanel out from the mold 8)

But I`m not entirely happy with it.. Lots of pinholes etc.. But, it`s the first one so I can let it be..
1 layer 160g/m2 carbonfiber, 1 layer of thin glassfiber (about 45-60g/m2) around the edges and on the botton same glass at 45 degree full layer..
That carbon is from hobbyking, and is the last from there I`m gonna buy.. the weave is so friggin loose, if you laminate one layer of it it looks like a net...

Second panel is made also, it has different carbon, 200g/m2 and around the edges 160g/m2 carbon. Weights just under 10 grams "thumbsup" It`s thin, but I think it will hold up fine..? It has pinholes also but on the other hand, these are for go, not so much show..

Also got tired of cleaning the driveshafts, so came up with crazy idea :lmao:

So far the shrink tubing has held up, time will show how long it lasts...

Tomorrow is our next comp, and I`m trying to give Zarizi good competition.. It`s going to be hard.. very hard...
