Ok, not completely new to the game, but nonetheless I need advice. I apologize if the answer to my needs is in another post. I have an axial wraith with the stock motor, Trans, and gear setup. Also a Tekin FXR. I like the speed just fine with my 27t since I like crawling and bashing with my rig. But, when I do crawl, it heats the cheap motor up way fast and gets sticky. It doesn't seem to cause permanent damage as long as I don't let it get too hot. Point is I'm looking for a replacement. Like I said, I like the speed of a 27t, but will I have to sacrifice my speed in an attempt at longer crawling sessions, or can I simply upgrade the motor? Maybe a Holmes or Tekin? I want to stay with a brushed setup. Is there any hope?

Crawling with the stock gear ratio is going to smoke just about any motor. If you want to be able to crawl and go fast you really need a sensored brushless motor.

X2 on the sensored system, I bought a mamba Max pro and a tekin red line sensored motor and have been very pleased with this setup

A buddy of mine fried his stock motor. He put a cheapo traxxas 21t in his and so far it's held up well. He only runs 2S though. I don't think he changed any gears either.
