The FREAK... Jeep LJ build #3 UPDATE 99% DONE Pix added

No long stories here. This is the 1:1 rig im aiming to build as a 1:10.
The 1:1 Freak is built by Rokmen. Here are more pics of the real thing. The Freak - a set on Flickr

Temporary mock up of ride height. I really want to use the new iroks but they rub on full stuff and i dont really feel like "taking" any more material out of the body work. May wait to the new Cad to Chrome 1.7 walker evans beadlock wheels and paire them up to the new 1.7 iroks but for now im sticking to the tried tested and proven (to me of course) 1.55 stompers with new siping. Well see...

And this is where im at so far. Wheels will be 1.55 VOIDS. These are just for mockup.

Still gotta finish up the cage work, drivetrain, and little things here and there. Basically a roller right now though. Any thoughts, suggestions, comments? Thanks.

That is just awesome... Subscribed... I've been looking to do this to make a replica of my 1:1 LJ

Do you have any pictures of the bed after the stretch? This will be my first ground up Scale build. I have only done lexan bodies.. But my friend k9popo will give me tips if i need (which I will). Any advice on the best place to find the bodies? or is it easiest to drop some dough on a new RC from the store? Thanks in advance and Awesome work on the cage and bumper.

Also, pic of my LJ for good measure.. ha ha

ser3100 08-18-2011 11:03 AM

Well get to it"thumbsup"!

motostowes 08-18-2011 08:04 PM

Wow, great looking lj. very nice build"thumbsup". any updates?

ser3100 08-19-2011 07:23 AM

Ill update it soon. Just finished the motor/tranny mount. Once thats done i just have to button things up and finish the body and cage work. Then the electronics go in.

1MEANMACH 08-19-2011 07:42 AM

That tubing work is nasty!

ser3100 08-19-2011 10:12 PM

Ok here are some pics showing how i managed to cram the drivetrain under the body retaining the full interior, or at least 99% of it

And here is my solution for a 3 link front end. NO bumpsteer whatsoever!

Thats all for an update.. more to come soon.

canadianbacon 08-21-2011 04:08 PM

Looking good so far, the past couple you did were awesome.

ser3100 08-21-2011 09:54 PM

Thanks for the comps. Im gonna work on it again after i go mtn biking and probably try to button up the chassis part then move onto finishing the cage work. Hopefully i can have this done before the weekend. I do need a short MIP driveshaft if anyone has one.

G-crawler 08-22-2011 06:44 AM

Looks great, like the armour you put on there!

ser3100 08-22-2011 07:50 AM

Thanks G, one day ill build up a JK just like the one you did and when i do i hope it will be at least half as good.

That's a fact. Great work so far. "thumbsup"

What thickness of styrene sheet are you using for the stretched area?

Bananaclip 08-22-2011 02:45 PM
